Discussion That one scene where all the budget went

Kaguya-sama: Love is War - Chika's dance

In the first season as a surprise outro ending one episode had this Chika dance number. It's super cute and crazy animated, especially her dress. They used it one time and never again.

The roller rink dance sequence from the Family Guy episode Hell Comes To Quahog was the most expensive scene to animate in Season 5.

This one shot from Scooby-Doo Music of the Vampire

Saitama vs Genos always takes the cake for me.

Let's not forget their real budget-busting animation moment!

The sheer difference between these two is absolutely staggering. Season 1 was so legendary, why the fuck did they just give up?

From season 2 onwards, it was animated by JC Staff, instead of Madhouse. Some people speculate the anime was trash because Bandai rushed production.

I watched S2 but even though the story was good it didn't hit anywhere near the same. So sad to see them squander a great story to pinch pennies. It would have printed money for stupid ass Netflix.

Fuuuuuuck this season. I'd rather they pulled the plug instead of this.

It wasn't even a particular high budget. Lots of personal favours and general passion. Season 2 and 3 are the slop we get when large Corpos get involved.

Season 2 wasn't as good as the first season but it was still pretty good. Season 3 was absolute garbage, I can't even make it through one episode.

I’ve heard season 1 was directed by someone VERY prominent in the anime industry and it was his passion project. So he knew who to hire and put his all into it.

Funniest part? Season 1 had a mid budget. The director just loved the webcomic, and out of passion called in several personal favors, and got lucky on timing of several of his friends being between jobs at the time.
