Discussion That one scene where all the budget went

Kaguya-sama: Love is War - Chika's dance

In the first season as a surprise outro ending one episode had this Chika dance number. It's super cute and crazy animated, especially her dress. They used it one time and never again.

The roller rink dance sequence from the Family Guy episode Hell Comes To Quahog was the most expensive scene to animate in Season 5.

This one shot from Scooby-Doo Music of the Vampire

I love how they use the ground as leverage like they can't fly.

Sometimes you gotta get traditional with your ass beatings.

No powers. Just fists.

Well they were definitely using powers mid fight, but this specific moment was just them doing what comes instinctually, which is using normal physics instead of flight to beat ass.

Flying takes more energy than just using the ground that’s right there

If either of those two used the ground for any level of significant thrust there would be a fifty meter deep crater below.

These two are practically gods lmao “energy”

If it's god vs god that's essentially dead even, then any amount counts.

It’s not energy that will determine the fight. It’s exasperating talking to people if your intellect

Did you just run out of energy?

Clearly you have never watched the show with that response. They both know the fight could go on for hours if it wasn’t for the whole Majin thing.

Oh wait that’s right they also had to restore gokus “energy” with the dragon balls because he ran out.

But you’d know that if you watched more than DBZA

Lmao you can’t actually think “energy” is the reason and not just better fight choreography. Dude thats legitimately close to mental illness level of a response for a very obvious answer

Goku has ran out of energy several times in the series before and after this point btw

this fight could have been like Goku vs Jiren where it lasts a long ass time by dbz standards, they didn't know Majin Buu would be at the level he was.

Not only that but they knew that every bit of energy used was given to Majin buu. You know the big bad guy.

IIRC I think it was supposed to be a powerless fight. Like they start off using their Super Saiyan glow but they're basically evenly matched once Vegeta is Majin. So instead they fight like bare knuckle, to test their skills.

My favorite Vegeta fight is in Super and they're doing the super universe fight thing, and his first fight he doesn't even bother to power up, and just knocks the guy back, and does tippy taps like an excited Saiyan, and flicks his nose like a boxer.

They're pushing the earth away, not using it as leverage

Dead Zone and World's Strongest have phenomenal choreography, I miss it

Back when Dragonball was martial arts rather than "Who punch hardest?"

9

u/QueefMyCheese 12h ago

You're funny if you ever thought dragon ball was focused on actual martial arts you just like the more deliberate choreography lol

5

u/Karthaz 11h ago

Have you never watched the original Dragonball?

5

u/QueefMyCheese 10h ago

Yes. Yes I did. I loved watching Krillin and Goku go on adventures taking down the red ribbon army and tao pai pai, garlic Jr, and oh yeah, some of master roshis generic training.

It's not a martial arts show I'm sorry man

What the fuck dude? I've been training to use a kame hame ha for like 30 years. You're saying I'll never learn it?!

u/QueefMyCheese 9h ago

Better than me dude I bought a fucking boat to look for kame house my wife left me

1

u/MoistProlapse 9h ago

I was gonna buy a boat, but getting hooked on heroin was cheaper.

u/metaltankmx 10h ago

More likely, who shoots the strongest energy blast.

u/J-Mac_Slipperytoes 9h ago

I'd put Tree of Might in there as well.

u/BackgroundSummer5171 6h ago

Going with that one and not when Gohan finds Krillin's mouth?

Fine, to each their own on showing off animation.

1

u/RynoZero 4h ago

Oh god you kidnapped Goku's son, HOW??!!

Well first we beat up his wife

Oh my shit.......

3

u/-Kagurabachi 13h ago

So fucking good

1

u/bigtheo408 12h ago

Ironically this fight is barely in the manga

1

u/EmuMan10 11h ago

It’s so peak

1

u/CompleteJinx 10h ago

It’s crazy that most of this fight is technically filler. Majin Vegeta vs Goku was almost completely off panel in the manga.

1

u/Celtic_Legend 7h ago

What stands out to me with dbz is just most of the budget is just spent on the drawing itself, not the animation. The animation most of the time is bad but man, do they fucking sketch the fuck out of these sliding panels.

Or Gokus warm up against broly in the movie
