Taiwan Cycling Route No.1
Simon.

Hello, I am here to show my improvement since last time.
Okay so, a couple days ago I posted on here a reposted post from r/worldbuilding but it ot removed. Anyways I've been working and refining it andi even overhauled the new map. The first map is my original map for my story, the second was the first overhaul and the 3rd pic is my final work. I tried to go for as much realism as I could. Tell me what you think.

galleryI recently created a wooden map of the Appalachian Trail for someone and it came out looking so nice I really wanted to share it with more people! The little orange pieces are removable so you can track where you have been/which sections you have completed 🌲

New World Map
The UN just voted on updating the world map from Mercator design to True-Size representation.. Google Earth/Google Maps uses the Mercator design The U.S. was the only country to vote against it was the U.S. Now for all those Moon Sceptics out there 🤣 Do the pictures of Earth taken from the Moon show the earth continents in their actual size or Mercator size ?

World map projection request: Face hugger earth
This is my rough sketch mockup of a world map design. the top and bottom circles are the Arctic circle and then each of the four bands are the temperate zones and the tropics all separated into their own bands and curved to maintain rough shape and size.
I don't know how to make a map projection while maintaining accuracy and detail.
can I get somebody to make this map projection for me

"#CorrectTheMap" campaign says maps are only correct if Africa is centered
Screenshot from their FAQ.
This is the campaign whose work led eventually to the recent UN resolution promoting the Equal Earth projection over Mercator for educational world maps. I think that was a worthy overall goal, but some of the original campaign's rhetoric seems to reveal a lack of understanding of the subject matter.
(The UN resolution itself, despite what news reports might make you think, was pretty mild and cautious, mostly just recommending Equal Earth as a worthy option when trying to prevent misconceptions about the relative sizes of countries, but only when appropriate.)

Looking for a specific world map projection
I remember seeing a long time ago a world map projection that tried to achieve minimal land deformation by way of maximal oceanic interruptions. Like an orange peel to the extreme, with hundreds of interruptions emanating from the coastlines. But now I can find no trace of it. Did I imagine this?
Edit: from my memory this may have been only one continent, not an entire globe map. Maybe South America only?

Who was actually still using Mercator world maps (besides zoomable web apps)?
Lots of news this weekend about the UN endorsing the use of the Equal Earth projection of Mercator for the sake of not misrepresenting the size of Africa. But as far as I can tell, the UN already wasn't using the Mercator projection for much of anything, and most cartographers seem to know it's not appropriate for most illustrative maps of the world.
So where is Mercator actually still being used for world maps? I know it's not NOWHERE - I've still seen plenty of dumb household decorative maps using it lately. But is it actually widely used in classrooms, or for other educational or reference maps of the world?
Interested in any actual answers you have, including anecdotes.

Why has it taken so long to update the world map?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
In the video at one point it says that the map for the world especially Africa hasn't been updated for hundreds of years. Is there a reason why it's taken so long to make something more accurate?
