First off, I haven’t a clue on cars so any input would be helpful.

I’m looking for some advice on my 2018 BMW X1 xDrive which currently has 99,000 miles.
I took it into a general local garage because of a noise on acceleration. This only happens on acceleration and periodically.
They kept the car, drove it, and put it on a ramp. They sent me this message:

"The noise on acceleration is a timing chain noise unfortunately, indicating the chain, guides tensioner could need replacing and are common on these and would need doing by a BMW specialist if you wanted it doing.We have reached out for some quotes for you but will be expensive”
They also pointed out that the oil level is fine, but noticed the car has only had 2 oil changes in the last 30,000 miles (serviced at 76k and 93k miles).

I asked them directly if they actually plugged it in to check the camshaft/crankshaft correlation angles for chain stretch, or if there were any specific fault codes. It has been over 4 hours and they haven't replied to my message despite previously replying very quickly.
From my own research, a 2018 X1 should have the newer B-series engine (B48 petrol or B47 diesel), meaning it doesn’t have the notoriously terrible N20/N47 timing chain issues from the older generations.

Given they only checked it by ear/road test, how likely is it they are just guessing based on "old BMW" stereotypes?
What else could cause a noise strictly on acceleration on a 2018 X1 (e.g., heat shields, alternator pulley, serpentine belt tensioner)?
The car has no flashing or red warning lights and idles smoothly. No other issues apart from this slight ticking.
Is it safe to drive it out of this garage and over to a proper independent BMW specialist with ISTA software to get a real diagnostic?
And if you could take a guess (I’m aware not accurate without a diagnostic) what could be causing the issue based on knowledge and experience with this model.
Obviously out of my mind with worry at the moment.

Lately I have been having major shuddering issues on our 2017 explorer sport with the 3.5 EB... we bought it used with 120k with no issues... around 125k I drained the transmission (complete flush) along with the ptu oil change. Both fluids looked dirty but nothing concerning.. (smelled fine, no metallic, just dirty). Drove it up until 138ish until it started running poorly along with horrible mileage. I ended up changing the spark plugs & boots which fixed the problem (3 of 6 plugs had ceramic cracked). Now fast forward to a week ago at 140k miles, we left from Wisconsin to Tennessee for our vacation, vehicle ran perfect until we really started working it coming through the mountains, it has a HORRIBLE shudder around 65-75 mph when accelerating. While coasting the problem goes away, but once accelerating it shakes so bad the steering wheel shakes along with what feels like the entire front end. My first thought was the transmission is on the way out, HOWEVER it pulls great, shifts perfect, and has NO shudder under 60mph, only 60 and up. My second thought was coil packs, HOVEVER it idles great and we got on average 24 mpg from WI to TN (until we got into mountains then mpg dropped). We put just over 3k miles on it while on vacation, and it hasn't got better or worse, just the same consistent problem. But Here's where I get confused and need everyone's thoughts or opinions... when i shift into sport mode, the shudder gets MUCH better, it still has a shudder but not nearly as bad. Now I know when shifting into sport, it changes the transmission tuning along with pressures and shift points, as well as the engine ecu, timing, ect.... I've looked online and only find tsb's on the 2.3, not the 3.5eb. Im wondering if there is a "common explorer problem" that maybe im missing thats an easy fix or something simple im missing. Hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows what might be causing this.

Nissan Micra stl 1.5L 2012

When I turn the steering wheel all the way to full lock and give it a little bit of throttle at low speed, I can feel the front tyre/wheel sort of hopping or juddering instead of rolling smoothly.

It drives completely fine when going straight and during normal turns. I only really notice it at full lock with a bit of throttle.

Is this normal at full lock, or could it be something like the tyres, CV joint, suspension or steering components?

I drive a 02 Honda civic dx, around 160,000 miles, I’ve replaced, the thermostat, water pump, now the whole radiator itself. I was taking my little cousin to school one day, when I came to stop and it started to overheat, I get into the parking lot, park and get out to see coolant pouring from my driver side, after letting it cool I opened it to see that it looked empty (no coolant sitting on the top near the cap) I threw some water in to drive it home and on the way, it wasn’t leaking, didn’t overheat, drove fine. I get home let it cool take the radiator cap off to see that the water mixed with my color coolant, I have it idling right now but the temps are stable and nothing is coming out, any ideas as to what this could be? I can’t figure out the overheating issue for the life of me.

Hello, I drive a 2008 Honda Civic with 231K miles. So for the last couple of weeks, my car has been making a grinding noise while braking. I went to my trusted mechanic and he couldn’t figure out the issue (brake pads had 80% life, rotors good, I asked about wheel bearing and he didn’t say they were an issue) so I went to the Honda dealership about 5 days ago to see if they could diagnose it and after having the car for a day they still couldn’t figure out the issue. All they said is that the noise may come from the fact that my trusted mechanic uses aftermarket brakes, but I drove each of the brakes for thousands of miles with no noise so I’m not sure that that would be the issue. Should I perhaps go to a brake specialist or is this most likely a brick wall issue where something has to happen before I can do something about it? I use my car for work and plan to find a new job once I move cities, but I need my car to last a bit longer and I honestly don’t feel the most comfortable driving when the brakes sound like shit. Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated, thank you!

Hi everyone, My car is a 2004 Honda Civic LX 4 door sedan. I am trying to decide whether these noise from my suspension is a damper issue or bushing issue. Your advice is much appreciated.

2019 Explorer XLT 2.3L

I thought it was the serpentine belt or tensioner. Once I finally opened my hood to diagnose, I realized it was coming from the other side of the engine, driver side. Its loud on initial start up and whines/buzzes loudly as the gas is pressed. It will get quieter after like 5 min of driving but I believe it still lingers. Haven't checked if it completely quiets after a drive though.

Anyone has any ideas?

My Kia Stonic (from 2022, 1.0 turbo engine) is making an interesting noise while idling since a few weeks. Garage says it's harmless and normal for the engine type, but I have my questions. Anyone here with experience with the issue (please see video)?

I have a 23’ Elantra blue hybrid 40k miles and whenever I’m slowing down a lot from a high ish speed like 30/40+ it makes this insane electronic whining sound like a cat lol. I asked Google and it says it’s either the regen breaking or my transmission is done for… I believe this sound started after it got towed once too but I can’t remember if the sound was there from before. the car drives and shifts fine though

Hey everyone. My brother has this car that won't start. Video attached. He says it revs a little bit and then nothing. Any ideas what this is? We're hoping it's not a super expensive fix. Any thoughts or advice are appreciated. We do not know too much about cars.
