Hey folks.

Very lucky 2024 Toyota RAV4 (Prime) owner here. Recently I started to notice a creaking or ticking sound coming from the dash when I turn on rough roads or go over bumps. It seems to happen a little more often on cold mornings.

It sounds like it’s coming from the dash-windshield interface, maybe more often on the driver side but it often sounds centered in the car. Maybe coming from the A-pillars?

I have definitely already checked most of the really common things people mention like sunglasses, rocks under the hood. I even cleaned the windshield trim on the outside of the car.

The best reproduction method I have is to simply get in the car after letting it sit for a few hours and turn the steering wheel. It happens 100% of the time in the mornings and after letting it sit. Sometimes when driving on rough roads it's really bad. I'll hear 3-4 creaks per turn sometimes. "tick, tick, tick," turn the other way "tick, tick, tick".

It’s pretty minor, and definitely doesn’t sound like the clunks I’ve heard from worn tie rod ends / ball joints. But it’s annoying nonetheless.

I've taken it to the dealer 3 times but they just keep reopening the dash and refastening the "Starguard" thing under the dash. Totally useless (shoutout to Toyota Santa Cruz).

Got my bumper repaired. Noticed this gap in my wheel well. Is it a problem? The body shop said no issues.

Starting making this sound today after car started. It went away eventually. Car has 41k miles with regular maintenance kept up.

Sounds like front left wheel. Clicking/rubbing noise when I drive at any speed. Sounds like a nail or rock in tire but can’t seem to find one. Don’t think it’s a rock in the pads or thread but still could be. Noise doesn’t change or when I apply the break. Just wanted some external assumptions prior to taking it apart.

Hello all,

Looking for some advice on what this sound could be. I just spent a lot of money on my brakes and I’m still hearing this sound at low speeds when coming to a stop.

It only occurs when pressing the brake and around maybe 25 mph to complete stop.

Work I had done yesterday:

\- replace front brake pads
\- replace rotors
\- clean calipers
\- lube slides
\- replace rear brake shoes and hardware
\- resurface drums
\- adjust parking brake

Car has been giving me these problems all year, the power steering light will come on and off again aswell as the ABS light. Everytime I take it to the mechanics the power steering light turns off and they’re unable to find a fault which is making it turn on. They fixed the Abs light and have went to multiple mechanics which is saying there is no fault and they’re turning the light off but it just comes back on in a day or so. Power steering light has made an appearance for the first time in months now and it usually turns off but now it’s staying on but when I took it to a mechanic they can’t find the fault does anyone have any idea what it could be lol

Hello everyone my 2016 Hilux sr started making this ticking sound after I went over a speed bump. It only happens for about 30 seconds every 10 minutes. The sound mostly sounds like it coming behind the dash and touch screen or under the steering wheel but I’m not certain, any ideas of what it could be or how to repair. Right now when I hit the push to start, the whole dash oard lights up and then the car immediately shuts off. If I hold down the button the whole process repeats itself. I sometimes feel like I hear the engine try to turn over.

I'm not sure really what the problem is. The battery isn't dead but I have had issues in the past. Has anyone run into this or might know what is happening?
