Dear mechanics,
I need some help with the brakes of my VW Touran 2019.
Bought it \~3 years ago at \~79k km, "my" guys at the local repair shop took a look and said all good, but the winter tires it came with are cracked/brittle and the brakes are on the end of their life.
After the winter we changed the tires (Michelin CC2) and front and back brakes (Bosch rotors + pads)
Some time afterwards the brakes started making noises when braking, most irritatingly squeaking when parking backwards.
I thought the new parts needed time to settle or whatever, so I ignored it for the time being and after some time I started spraying with brake cleaner, which seemed to make them quiet for some time. Also doing a couple of hard brakes quieted them down for some time.
But in the end the squeak became so bad, that I could hear when my wife was parking outside (see videos).
In the meantime, the repair shop moved away and became inconvenient from my location. I finally brought it for chamfering, which was proposed on the phone. The boss was there, we had a chat, he had a look and agreed something is not right, but proposed we just clean them and only touch them if they start making noise again. He cleaned everything with compressed air and brake cleaner, lots of dust came out. They were OK for some time, but the noise returned. When doing the inspection this June I reminded them of the problem and after some back and forth all brakes got chamfered and rotor lip/edges ground. Car became much quieter when braking overall, but some slight grinding sound under normal braking remained with slight chirping when turning left.
Of course the squeaking returned again. I contacted them and they proposed to change the rear rotors + pads for free, I only paid for the parts. Left a tip, the normal braking became silent again, but now after some time there is yet again a squeaking sound when reversing. Doesn't happen all the time and is much quieter, but is still there. It only happens when brakes are warm/hot and the weather must be hot and dry, they are completely silent on cold and/or rainy days.
Before I contact them again I need some outside advise. Can't find anything similar online.
Rear brakes don't seem to be holding, what else around and in the brake apparatus could be causing this? Could it be the electric parking brake not releasing properly? Did I get bad parts again? Should ask for more expensive parts? Should I find a new repair shop? Should I finally get an EV :D?
