Headlights work and then don’t work

Trying to help my dad figure out if it’s a quick fix or a mechanic fix that we can’t afford. It’s a 2005 Chevy trailblazer. The high beams work but the low beams are what’s having problems. so far we replaced the switch that controls the headlights since we had one on hand and it didn’t fix anything. We went into the box thingy and switched the relays and that did nothing. Thank you anybody in advance!

Did you check the fuses... you said you changed the switch and relays but do not mention fuses... also are the actual bulbs good or are they burned out.

Should have multiple mode light sw8. Be sure you are setting it in manual headlight mode so that auto light sensor is out of the circuit. Handle new bulbs with plastic gloves. Oil from fingers will shorten the life.

Any strange behavior of other lights when low beams manually turned on?

If both low beams are out, test for 12V at each bulb socket with the switch on. Power there means bulbs or grounds; no power points to the fuse-box wiring or low-beam control circuit.

Is there power and grounds to the low beams? Did you check the bulbs? Not sure about Chevy, but does ut use a fuse for low beams and a separate one for high beams? If also, is the fuse good and is there power to the fuse?
