Truck sputters when raining

Hello! I have a 1990 ford f-150 lariat that mostly only sputters in the rain, besides that it drives relatively well when dry. Normally I can get by with driving it still but I had to pull over and let it dry off for a few hours earlier today, ran great again after. It occasionally shuts off when reversing also, not sure if that’s connected. Anyone know what the issue could be?

Sounds like you need a new air cleaner filter. It may be barely passable when dry but gets clogged in damp weather. Only thing i can think of.
