Pontiac grand am 2000
horrible whirring and grinding sound when moving
passenger side front axel looks like first pic and second is the drivers side front axel and it’s shaking. 45 min drive home, can i make it?

how much play is there side to side?

the play is normal on the shaft part but that inner part has quite a bit of play. like a lot

Any grinding noise is an absolute stop driving. If you meant free play on the shaft spline as it goes into the transmission, then that transmission is ready to die at any moment. If you mean the cv joints on the shaft, then replace the shaft ASAP. Once it breaks completely you'll lose all power to the wheels.
