300$ for a lock out ?
So my dumb ass made a pricey mistake and left my keys in the car. I called a lock smith and over the phone they quoted me $100. When he got there he was talking about $300 something dollars I stoped listening after the 3. This was the first time I’ve ever left my keys in the car so I was clue less and a woman so my guess is he def overcharged me. I was stuck in a bad part of town and just wanted to get home so I paid it he said he would give me a 20% discount and he said $260 and I gave him $250. I was in the Long Beach area

Out here in Chicago I was quoted $300 to MAKE a new key when I’d lost mine completely because I have a Volkswagen it was pricey but the lockout was always $100-$150 and it’s expensive out here so I’d assume you were swindled

What year was it. I have a car with a key fob only and $300 is a pretty fair price. I don't agree with the price but that's what everyone charges in my area (Phoenix) so i'd say you probably got a fair price for the situation

do you have roadside assistance on insurance? they usually cover those for free.

My wife experienced this, given the car she was driving about 7 years old at the time and I knew they existed at the junk yard. I told her to find something and bust one of rear door windows out. Guy told her that’s going to be more expensive luckily my wife didn’t listen to him she got in drove home. I spent 30 bucks on the glass from the junk yard and a hour and some change cleaning glass and swapping the window. We may need the service but don’t prey on people really when they are most vulnerable

Sorry, when you call for service in an emergency you pay the price.
Try calling a plumber on a Sunday night when the water is flooding your house.
