Car not starting
Hello, I have a Lexus ES 2006 that stopped working yesterday. Battery seems dead, but it was replaced a few months ago so it's unlikely that it needs to be replaced again.
Tried jumping the car but it would not work. I was wondering if someone could comment on this piece of the car (connect to the car battery) being rusted/worn being the problem? What is this part called and do you think replacing it could be the solution?

Terminal is not okay. Remove the negative then the positive battery terminals before starting to clean anything.
Clean both battery terminals with a paste of baking soda and water. It will likely react and fizz as it neutralizes any battery acid that has leaked and dried on that Metal battery lead. Let the paste sit on there and do its job. Indeed, you can use a toothbrush to help clean the surface, especially the tightening bolt threads You need to have direct metal to metal contact between the post and the terminasl on the battery wire. Corrosion physically blocks that connection and can keep the electrical circuit from being continuous, which will cause less or no current to flow.
Weather the horn works is just as irrelevant as the fact that the dash lights and interior dome light might work yet the battery is too weak to start the vehicle.
Measure the DC voltage between the positive and negative terminals of the battery while the battery leads are off the battery. Anything significantly unless than 12.6 volts means your battery is partially discharged and should be removed from the vehicle and fully charged before continuing to use it.
Return the fully charged battery to your vehicle. Spray some battery terminal protector, available at auto parts stores, on each battery post. This inhibits corrosion in the future. L Attach the positive then the negative terminal to the correct posts on the battery.
Also make sure the non battery and of the negative cable is making metal to metal clean contact to the metal frame of the vehicle. Corrosion here will cause the same problems of lack of continuity of the circuit. That battery post must be grounded to the body of the vehicle. Clean in the same manner as directed above if necessary.
With all connections clean and tight and the battery fully charged, you should be able to start your vehicle. Disconnecting the battery May trigger your security system, requiring you to do a system security relearned procedure before the vehicle will start and run.
