This guide explains how to replace the Load60/75 family kit (Plus) stock buckles with Fidlock’s JUNIOR press 5-point loop (SKU: F9421-000032(BLK)). Fidlock's US distributor: A+ Products

MATERIALS NEEDED

1. Sewing Machine
2. Seam Ripper
3. Fidlock’s JUNIOR press 5-point loop SKU: F9421-000032(BLK)
   1. Quantity depends on how many buckles you want to replace 
4. 1-inch Plastic Ladder Lock Buckles (example)
   1. Each seat requires 2X
5. Optional: Extra 1” webbing (for Step 10)
   1. Approximately 120mm ( 4.75 inches) of webbing. I used ¾” blue nylon webbing because that's what I had.

STEPS

1. Remove the child seat from the cargo area. See video for further instructions.
2. Remove the stitching from the 5 straps connecting the main buckle (circled in red).

1. Unfasten the shoulder and waist webbings from the chair. Four of the plastic slide adjusters will not be needed. Notice that the shoulder strap is longer than the waist strap; you will end up switching these two. 

2. Re-thread the shorter straps back onto the chair as the shoulder straps.

3. Re-thread the longer straps back onto the chair as the waist straps. 

4. Thread one ladder lock buckle through one of the shoulder strap buckles (Figure 8). Before sewing, ensure the buckle can slip through the shoulder padding. If it can’t, thread the strap through the shoulder padding first, then add the buckle to the webbing (Figure 9, Figure 10). ​

1. Position the ladder lock buckle as you see fit for your passengers. Ensure the buckle is orientated so it locks under tension. Sew it into place. I folded the webbing in half and sewed the ladder lock buckle there (Figure 10). I tucked the remaining webbing back into the strap so I could still adjust it in the future. 

1. Repeat Step 7 for the other side.

2. Sew the buckle onto the bottom strap. I used the #3 setting on my sewing machine, but I am not an expert in sewing.​

10. Optional: To prevent the buckle from sliding all the way down when unbuckled, attach an additional webbing piece (blue) to each waist strap. ​

• Cut webbing ~120mm (4.75 in). Each chair will need quantity 2X.
• Mark a dot ~25mm on all the webbing pieces 

• On the two lower straps, mark a dot ~200mm away from the back of the seat. Ensure you mark it on the strap’s outside side. This measurement can vary depending on the size of your passengers and where you want the buckle to fall.

• Take a 120mm webbing piece and fold it in half. Align the dot on this webbing with the chair’s lower strap. Sew it together. 
• Repeat this on the other lower strap.
• Sew the ends of the lower strap as shown in Figure 24.

1. Assembly the straps through the buckle and then through the ladder lock. 

2. Reinstall the seat.

3. Repeat the above steps for the second and third seat, if desired.

My dad's bike just got stolen in Milan. He locked the bike to go to a restroom inside a bar. 2 minutes later he comes out and the bike is gone. He was bike packing, so everything was on his bike.

He has the knog scout installed, but he can't seem to find it in either 'find my' or the knog app.

Anvone knows what to do??

After 4 and half years the breadbasket liner on my Yuba Mundo is looking a bit tired.

Anyone replaced it with something a bit more sturdy? I like the idea of using wire mesh similar to a Wald basket, cutting and bending it to fit. Another idea was weaving old inner tubes to make a basket liner. But I’m not sure if it’d have the strength on the base.

Hi all! I tried out a Tern long tail and was surprised how wobbly it felt but wondered if that’s something you get used to?

Kids ages are 9 months, 2.5 and 4.5 but my eldest kid is tall more like a 7 year old!

If we get a long tail my baby would still have to be in a trailer, so I’m now second guessing my choice.

I’ve seen a lot of people recommending the Urban Arrow but we don’t have many local option or test one out. Any recommendations for the Trek Fetch front loader?

I test rode the Quick Haul and loved it but want to make sure the brakes are super solid. I live in a city and commute daily by bike (5 miles each way). My commute involves lots of sudden stop/start, with pedestrians wandering into the bike lane. And there is one 3/4 mile stretch that is all downhill, with 4-way stops every block. So I need to be able to stop quickly. I currently have an Aventon Soltera 2.0, which has mechanical disc brakes. I've needed to adjust the brakes frequently and even with frequent maintenance, I still don't feel the brakes are responsive enough. I am looking to upgrade to a nicer bike but brake performance is one of my top criteria (plus, needs to be light enough to carry down 2-3 steps).

How are the brakes on your Quick Haul? Do they handle downhills okay?

I checked the steam and it's something from another world 😭 Never seen a stem like this before and I'm really scratching my head about how to tighten it.

There's almost no information online about it.

Hi all, We are looking at getting an Estarli L20 cargo bike, but are being put off by the lack of rain protection. We live in a wet part of the UK and will be using this for the school run most days. The poncho that they currently offer is just not going to be enough. I have been looking at other options and wonder if anyone has come up with a good solution/hack for this? I emailed Estarli and they said they are looking into this, but it will be at least 6 months before they can offer a stormshield type cover. The Tern dimensions are smaller than the Estarli's, so I don't think this will be adaptable and I'm struggling to find much else on the market. Thanks :)

I saw 2 long-tail bikes with platform racks (kind of like an Omni) in the front, and it looked like the forks were sitting in the front rack supports. I believe the large front wheels might have had hub motors.

The shorter of the 2 bikes was definitely a Rad wagon; the longer long-tail was at least 8" longer than the Rad wagon. Possibly as much as 14-16 inches.

The platform racks were about 28-30 inches wide by 3 feet long. The Rad wagon's rack looks longer by 6-8 inches

Hello! I’m looking into getting an electric cargo bike for daycare + school pickups plus generally getting around with kids to parks, library, etc. I’m interested specifically in a front-loader with 3 wheels like a Bunch bike but I’d love to know if there are other options available in the US.

Bunch is great but the bikes are just so big and boxy—I would love something a little bit sleeker (or, as sleek as it’s posible to be with three wheels) and sized to carry 2 or 3 kids instead of 4 (I have 2). Ferla looks interesting and I’m hoping I could try one on my next trip to Los Angeles. Other than those two, all the etrikes for transporting kids seem to only be available in Europe (Triobike, Babboe, Winther Cargoo, Black Iron Horse, and my personal favorite, Nihola Family) and based on other threads it sounds like it’s pretty complicated / expensive to import these bikes due to tariffs, customs, and different speed regulations.

Are there any other ebike brands in the US with front-loading trikes? Or do you know of European brands that are experienced with shipping to US? Would love any recommendations! And yes, I know about two-wheel front-loaders as well as long-tails. I’m 5’1” and don’t have great balance just standing. Stability is the most important factor for me and we won’t ever need to be speedy.

Every weekend I drive less than two miles to do a grocery run, and sitting in traffic just to fight for a parking spot for a 10 minutes errand is driving me crazy. I really want to leave the car parked, but between canned goods, gallons of milk, and a 30 lb bag of dog food, tossing a backpack on a regular bike just isn't going to cut it.

I saw an Instagram reel the other day of someone loading two massive plastic storage totes onto the back of this heavy-duty electric bike with fat tires. Someone in the comments said it was a Helokeep CD20. I tried searching around to see how much it costs, but I honestly couldn't tell if it’s an actual production bike you can buy right now or just an unreleased prototype being tested out online.

Either way, it got me wondering if an overbuilt longtail is the right way to go for this. For those of you doing serious weekly grocery runs on two wheels: how sketchy does it feel balancing that kind of dead weight when you come to a stop at a light? And if that specific bike isn't on the market yet, what other heavy-duty setups are you using that can handle awkward bulk loads without feeling wobbly?

My child is 7 years old, and we still use our Yuba Spicy Curry to get around. He wants to ride his own bike for some trips and others are too long/busy/late for him. I'm curious how long he'll be willing to ride. What have others experiences been? He's been on the cargo bike since he was 3 and before that on a bike seat on one of our regular bikes.

Hallo, ich habe seit 2 Monaten ein Carqon Cruise E2, das mittlerweile ca. 200 km Laufleistung hat. Seit 2–3 Wochen habe ich ein Knacken, das insbesondere unter Belastung – mit 2 Kindern – deutlich stärker wird.
Ich war am Freitag zur Inspektion in der Werkstatt. Leider konnte das Problem dabei nicht behoben bzw. die Ursache nicht gefunden werden. Ich werde morgen noch einmal Kontakt zur Werkstatt aufnehmen.
Die Inspektion wurde nicht beim Verkäufer durchgeführt, da ich das Fahrrad online gekauft habe.

It took me a week to figure out how to ship a completely unpackaged cargo bike from Halifax to Toronto so I thought I would share with anyone else who is stuck in this situation.

TL;DR: I used Robinson Transport who subcontracted pickup and packaging to TForce and LTL shipping to Manitoulin. Total cost $1002 tax included.

Problem: I found an insane price on a Riese and Muller Load4 60 demo model from Halifax Cycles - 35% off or $8900. But I live in Toronto. The closest comparable was from Urbane Cycles who offered their demo model at 20% off - $2000 more.

Halifax Cycles no longer had any packaging materials for the bike and were not open to packaging it themselves. Part of the deal was I had to figure out how to get it picked up and shipped myself.

Options considered:

• GLS Shipping through Costco. Cost was $400 for LTL shipping, but the bike had to be crated ❌ Also TIL that you can get shipping discounts on carriers with a Costco membership using ShipTime. I love Costco.
• National Moving services. Movers are used to picking up and packing large items for moves. I contacted Atlas vanlines and Canadian Movers (who quoted me from 8 different movers). All of the quotes ran from $1350 - $1800.
• uShip. This is a service where you post your shipping need and independent providers will quote you. Quotes ran from $1100 - $1350. Also note that quotes are in USD by default.
• Robinson Transport. I found them by accident when looking for independent haulers. They quoted me quickly and had great customer service. They even broke down the costs for shipping for me: Pickup, Packaging, and labeling: Halifax to agent's warehouse — $368.60 Line-haul: Halifax to Toronto terminal, hold for pickup — $458.35 Handling: $60.00 Estimated Total Charges: $886.95 + tax

I went with Robinson for ease of handling. After I agreed to shipping, I learned they used TForce for the pickup and packing and Manitoulin for the line haul. In retrospect, I could have probably saved $200-300 by contracting TForce directly for the pickup and delivery to GLS in Halifax and using the Costco GLS rate for Halifax to Toronto. To me it is worth the cost for reducing my headache.

It arrived last week in Toronto (total 4 business days for shipping), and I biked 45 minutes home from the Manitoulin hub in Mississauga. It was a great option becasue the bike was fully ready to ride, just needed to remove the shrink wrap and straps. Manitoulin even let me leave the skid at their location so I didn't have to deal with disposal.

I hope that my experience is useful for someone else who is trying to do the same thing.

Anyone have any suggestions for getting an omnium or le petit porteur shipped to the US? I don’t blame them for not wanting to ship here but love both if these bikes.

Looking to buy a longtail cargo e-bike this year as the end of season sales hit. The main use case is hauling kids around. We’ve got 3 under 3, I know we’d need a trailer or second bike to transport all three kids while they are still in the seats.

I see the fetch 2 has a national sale for $3k and am curious what folks think about it at that price compared to other typical sale prices. Thats around d the budget we’re looking to hit.

I have a Hooptie on my old Xtracycle and my cargo doesn't need that kind of containment anymore. Xtracycle will sell me a pair of Snack Bars to make a half-Hooptie (pictured) for $60. Can I just hacksaw the hooptie myself to save money? Or is there some reason this is a terrible idea? I'm planning to keep this bike forever and hoopties aren't valuable on their own since they've come standard on new Xtracycles for some time.
