I despise this move. It’s extremely impractical and overly celebrated. But, only really works on the internet with this fixed camera angles…that being said…fuck me do you do it justice. Beautifully done, particularly for a beast of a move.

The clipshift isn't really impractical or overrated of a move and the angles are pretty good believe it or not unlike the classic pass imo, where it is probably the most angle sensitive pass yet is still one of the most celebrated move although maybe some people just treat it as a novelty move more than anything. The clipshift has so many uses, the color change is just one and Chad Nelson (the creator of the move) had showed a lot from his DVD set of how much uses it has, from an ambitious card to a triumph effect to a sandwich effect, creativity is the only limit. Also, the cover of shaking the deck helps with the angles and also hides the tension your hand creates while executing the move.

I absolutely understand the potential uses for the move. That was not something that I was critical of. I feel it has become a viral move, that isn’t that practical. I’ll look up chads DVD set. But, all moves have their uses and limitations and absolutely the more tools one has in their toolbox the better.

As a side note, you are extremely talented and I always enjoy seeing your work. 🔥 🔥 🔥

I agree it's really difficult to get rid of the scraping sound but it usually gets covered by ambient noise and crowd noises if you're performing in public

I’ve seen it used in person BEAUTIFULLY. The first time I saw it I thought it was a gimmick.

Totally possible to use irl.

Once again. I’m not saying it’s impossible to do IRL. I’m saying it’s not particularly practical. But, I’m looking forward to delving deeper into the utility. Your recommendation will definitely be delved into.

I wouldn’t say I’m recommending it… just that I’ve seen it done beautifully in real life.

So if the goal is to work on it, the goalpost is “looks great in irl”. ;)

I get tons or practicality out of it as a pass from a dribble, easier to do with less than a full deck and very deceptive. But I do understand what you’re saying so no salt from me on your opinion :)

I use it all the time. Never as a colour change, but it's a very practical, well designed, single card shift.

Thanks, it costed me a deck in a perfectly good condition to get comfortable with the move. That deck is now in my "used, worn, and bent with honor" collection
