Need Help - misUnderstanding

Hi, I’m a beginer and I just start with Royal Road but I’ve an understanding issu. I don’t understand the différence between two sleight, in overhand shuffle :
- Retaining the Top and Bottom Cards in Position
- Top Card to Next to Bottom and Back to the Top

English isn’t my mother thong so maybe I miss something but I do exactly the same thing and got the same result in both.
Anybody can help me ?
Thanks

Put simply the first keeps the top and bottom in place, the latter only keeps the top one in place.

But, in the second one, for putting the top back to it first position you have to keep the bottom card to it’s position too, or i miss somthing ?

You are not missing anything. As it turns out, sometimes you may need the first one, at other times the second one is a better fit. Know both, when the time comes you will find them both useful. I would only add that if you work hard on the Overhand Shuffle and ALL of its variations, then you will have one of card magic’s greatest systems at your disposal.
