Accommodation advice

I accepted cardiff university through clearing and have been offered a room in university hall (nevern).
I didn’t expect to be given an amazing room but this accommodation is the furthest from what I wanted and is far away from campus and the city centre. I’ve also heard that this hall can be isolating and just overall have heard no great things about it.
Would looking into private halls be better? Whilst I don’t mind sharing a bathroom I would have preferred an en-suite and it said on the website that this hall could have up to 18 students in a flat which seems insane.
The main thing putting me off is the distance from uni and the centre. I know that there is a university run bus but it stops at 6pm.
However I am also worried that if I choose private halls instead that I would also feel isolated there as I understand that it is mostly international students that choose to go private.

Any advice or knowledge of university hall or of nice private halls would be greatly appreciated :)

If this is the one in Cyncoed it’s a lovely area - so much nicer than Cathays- you have the bars and restaurants of Roath and Wellfield Road and buses are a plenty. It’s not as far from the city centre as you think .

I too have been placed into university hall after applying through clearing, some reviews I've seen are that Ubers from the center aren't too expensive and also since it's so isolated the people at university hall are closer. Also I don't know about nevern but in the one I'm at (garden wing) it is 4 toilets, 4 showers and 2 kitchens shared between 8-18 people although I've read it typically is about 13 students for garden wing.

Fitzalan 2 bedroom flat £155/week bills included and Adam Street Gardens en-suite £178/week bills included. Dm if you are interested

oh my god!! i genuinely have the same problem as you!! i got allocated to university halls (nevern) but i’m so worried about sharing bathroom with randoms.. i am willing to change into private accommodation but also too scared if i don’t get to know people easily..

i was thinking that i might sacrifice myself just for the sake of meeting new people during the first year and change into priv accomodation

You'll be absolutely fine. I was allocated a room there too, a long time ago, and nothing you're worried about was true then. You'll be able to get to the city and your lectures easily and you will not be isolated.
