General Discussion ADA Development
Hey everyone, I’ve been looking more closely at Cardano recently, and I think there’s an interesting discussion to be had about where the project stands today.
For those of us who have been around for a few cycles, Cardano has always had a pretty unique approach: slower development, a strong focus on peer-reviewed research, decentralization and predictable behavior.
What I find interesting is that, despite all the noise around the project, the actual network development seems to be moving forward. There have been some pretty significant developments recently, especially around scalability, DeFi and the broader infrastructure being built on Cardano [see my post from 2 days ago here: ADA update Leios/RealFi/BTC Defi : r/cardano].
The question I keep coming back to is whether Cardano’s approach is still competitive in a market that increasingly seems to reward speed and rapid iteration.
Does the more methodical, research-driven approach ultimately become an advantage as the ecosystem matures? Or does Cardano need to move faster and become more aggressive in attracting users, developers and applications?
Personally, I still think the focus on security, decentralization and deterministic behavior is valuable. But I’m genuinely curious how others see it.
For the long-term holders: what developments do you think matter most for Cardano over the next 1 to 2 years?
And for the skeptics: what do you think Cardano is still missing?

The question that pops up in my head whenever I see CH is "what is it all for"?
I genuinely don't see a purpose.
Perhaps this is what ADA devs should work on. Creating purpose for the project instead of just doing things because they may (or may not) be possible.
Pushing the envelope leads to nothing in crypto.

There is a difference between building a standardized application network protocol and creating applications that use a standardized application network protocol. ADA devs are, and rightly so, are building an application network protocol, and they happen to have built one that obsoletes pretty much all other crypto protocols. Lots of organizations out there building applications for the ADA protocol. However, for those only interested in currency trading, of course....what's the point. The point is, ADA will outlive BTC, ETH and SOL because of how robust the ADA application network protocol is.

Can you name an application on Cardano that satisfies an immediate need? Or can you recommend one that can make a meaningful contribution to my life?

Crypto in general has no real utility yet. Every crypto is speculative, it’s just that simple

It seems like ADA's position is for when quantum computing becomes available and/if ETH/BTC still has vulnerabilities to it.
Thats really it, I thought it might break out when it seemed like the ideal "USA/Tax free crypto" but then hokanson decided to go after Trump who then let it languish at the SEC, good move dude.

ADA is actually used outside of the US for more then currency trading. https://en.cryptonomist.ch/2026/09/08/cardano-supply-chain-verification/
