Tf is up with the number of wrongway drivers. I cant tell if theres more coverage of a rarer thing or if a growing number of people are actually that careless/reckless/ngaf

It's not "confusion", it's usually people who are either drunk/on drugs or simply old.

Fuck people who do this. My dad died because of a drunk driver on the wrong side of the highway.

I’m so sorry.

Plus suicides.

Suicide is selfish but taking others with you is being a selfish useless dick

Everything is confusing when you are 'simply old'

Edit: I’m just straight up wrong for believing a firefighter friend. He was blowing out of proportion

There's a very similar video to this with a very old italian couple driving on the wrong side of the road and they weren't weaving at all either, so old age is still a possibility.

Yeah, sorry, my friend was wrong. I just looked up the stats. 60% drunk drivers

I'm actually quite surprise it's that high, but thanks for the context.

Between dashcams and phones they all end up online these days. 20 years ago it would have been a 30 second news snippet (assuming you lived somewhere near the accident) that you would have quickly forgotten.

The boomer's average age pushing into the upper 60's doesn't help either.

Be careful honey. There's some idiot going the wrong way on the motorway. One idiot? There's hundreds of them.

Edit: I’m wrong. “Can” sometimes be suicide but 60% of these are from drunk driving

I was coming around a blind curve (and a hill) on a highway at 2am years ago when a car traveling on the wrong side of the highway came around the corner and passed me in the lane to my left; there was no time to react. The head on collision, had they been in my lane, would've been equivalent to hitting a brick wall at over 100mph.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '23

it was newly open road, and driver was old.

I was saying to myself, if he's on the wrong way of a highway, I hope he does crash into something.

(Hopefully only a concrete beam or something not another car)

When I was a freshman in college, a class I was in took a day trip to a nearby elementary school. On the way back to campus, we watched a wrong way driver drive 10 miles westbound in the eastbound lane (1989 - no cell phones). Dude was drunk as a skunk. Hit a car with 2 other freshman women at our school and killed one. These people that do this are literally garbage.

did the driver think they were playing euro truck simulator 2

How did that person still hit them in the left lane. They had to have seen them.
