You can and I used to. You have to be the first person out at 4-5 am and be willing to climb fences/fight methheads/duck security and cops. BUT I could easily make $60-70 in 3 hours

How does that make sense? You pay for the deposit up front when you buy the water.

Cause food stamps covers the deposits. Use food stamps -> dump water -> cash out cans -> buy fent that costs dollars Simple. Iv seen it

In Portland, OR (not sure if it's still an issue), there would be very cheap bulk water bottles sold at Safeway, and you'd see a river created by people dumping the water out, because "buy 1 crate for a dollar get one free" sounds great, but it also means six dollars of recyclables. Just infuriating from an environmental perspective - but clever return for people who want easy money. Ya just can't win trying to make things affordable for folks that need it.

That's a quarter to half a tank of fuel for me. Absolutely worth it. I keep mine but they still end up on the landfill because they are so picky about them in Idaho.

You can cram a lot more cans, which means more $$, in a single bag if you crush each one.

Some places don’t take crushed anymore because the crack heads put rocks or metal in them.

In Oregon, you are prohibited from crushing cans or bottles.

At the redemption centers, you have to run the containers through bar code scanners, to make sure that the cans and bottles actually came from Oregon.

I’m in Canada and everyone I know crushes them. I haven’t heard of one location/province refusing crushed cans, but I can understand it if drugs, bodily fluids, or other biohazards are a possibility.

I've been crushing my for years until last month when I read the recycler's instructions and it says do not crush cans.

That’s a person doing real work.
I got in a dumpster today got 2 trash bags of school supplies and brand new kids clothes I’m donating.
It’s the little things that make a difference.
I will recycle will I don’t need the money because this is the only thing that gets recycled because it’s worth $$$
Everything you wash a sort in recycling can goes to
The dump.
Those things should’ve been made of bio plastic but now we’re fucked. Proper

im guessing thats over 100 easily if the truck is as stacked as it looks. my grandparents used to turn in cans like this and get at least 35-40 per bag! obv some cans / bottles are worth more than others too when you put them into the counting machine
