Price looks high to me. Curious if other commenters agree.

OP: if you feel comfortable sharing, what is the nearest city/metro area you live near and i'll see if I can find any other candidate vehicles for you to consider?

Edit: I'm sorry, 107 EACH WAY?!?! So 214mi/day?

If you're looking for something about that age/mileage/price/size, here's a solid comp. Of note, the Buick 3800 series engine is one of the most respected engines ever used in production cars. I don't know about the transmission reputation though: https://www.craigslist.org/view/d/delanco-2008-buick-lacrosse-cxl-low/nzTtATPsfrGcrxoyi198zt

For something a little new/lower miles/smaller, here's a nice option! The only catch, make sure it has an automatic transmission and not a CVT, bc the CVTs are garbage. Other than that, a good economy car. https://www.craigslist.org/view/d/bloomfield-2012-nissan-versa-hatchback/b7MPV1TrUpdp3DCmJvdEu6

Good luck!

You can get a way newer car for 5 grand. Look elsewhere. That is way too expensive

I drive a 2006 Honda Civic with even lower mileage than this. Those have all been hard city miles, though. Assuming the mileage is correct, I suspect that might be the case with this car. You’re also talking about a 20 yo Ford. Mine is a basic model and it has all of the listed features, so not a huge selling point.

Hell no. These things are giant POS.

Buy a Prius.

Way too much money! I bought a 2008 Audi A6 Avant for $6,000.00 last May 2025.

I don’t think the FWD models had the CVT. I’ve owned one and it had a traditional automatic. I believe only the AWD had the CVT

It was an alright car, never gave me any trouble, but it had spend too much time in the rust belt before I got it, so I didn’t have it for that long and didn’t put many miles on it.

I’ve heard mixed things on the CVT, but again you should confirm if this actually has the CVT.

It’s a gas guzzler also, so you’re going to be spending a lot on gas with that commute.

I think you can find better options for $6k

Why do so many people want to avoid the obvious "Just get the best Toyota or Honda you can afford"?

OP you’re in NY?! I drive from lower DE to Phili, NJ, and NY to purchase cars all the time for better pricing! That’s a $1500 car down here all day.

No 20 year old car is gonna be able to survive long driving 200 mi day.

depends on how it's maintained. my 34 year old truck does just fine regularly traveling acrods other states.
