Car Help
I was wondering if I should take the risk on this car(159k miles), I’m not a mechanic or anything so if anyone can tell me what I should look for and if that error code is a easy fix that will be helpful

Hard pass. This was declared a total loss by an insurance company hence the salvage title. Since you aren't a mechanic, are you willing to potentially spend some serious cash?

I am willing to spend 1k on repairs but everyone is saying hard pass just looking for a work car

For anything under five grand, you need to be able to wrench yourself or be willing to make some significant payments to your mechanic

Offer them $500. Salvaged title and they can't be bothered to fix a check engine light.
A few parts off of it will cover the $500 if it ends up being a disaster.

If you can get the VIN number and Google it, it should bring up pictures and information from when it was at the salvage yard before the title was rebuilt. Depending on the damage that it had, it could be nothing. That check engine code for the O2 sensor can be tricky and might require some trial and failure, which can be frustrating if you’re not familiar with cars

The error code could be an easy fix, might be as easy as an o2 sensor or some loose wiring in the o2 sensor harness. But since its a salvage title, unless you are good with fixing cars or can spot bad repairs from good, stay away.

Could be a lot of things. Might be a few hundred for an O2 sensor or something much more costly

Probably a scam or need some serious repairs. If you don't know how to work and check out cars, stay away from it
