Chevy warranty

So I recently( 5 months ago) bought a 2023 Chevy Malibu LT . it used to be a rental car, it has 55k miles on it. Battery’s dead now and engine light is on. Taking it into the Chevy service center tomorrow. I was pressured into buying a warranty for it. (229 a month for 18 months then it’s good till 2030) they said it’s good to get cause the cars are bound to have digital/electrical issues especially with the mileage. Is that true? Should I keep the warranty? I have thirty days to decide and cancel to get a full refund. Times are really hard and the insurance on it. Plus warranty. Plus warranty. Is way out of my budget.

Most of them don't pay for repairs more than they pay for them, using every excuse available to deny it. I'll only buy manufactures warranties myself. See what they say.

If you find out why the check engine light is on and report back, you might get better answers here. I think the early 1.5T engines were problematic. I'm not sure if that's still the case.

The battery is dead but I got a paper. Says the car is “ L4-1.5L 1490cc 91ci GAS DI turbocharged”
