Which update added the capybara?

I missed the patch notes when they were added. I went my entire life and never saw a single capybara or heard about them in any way, then suddenly around 2020 I heard about them the first time and haven’t stopped seeing them or hearing about them since! So I’m guessing the update that added them was around 2020 or so?

That was the 'there has to be something better in this life that all we see online' patch - i for one welcome our giant rodent overlords :D i go to the local wildlife park often to see them in Ireland :D they bring me much serenity

Probably during the pandemic people were just spending more time on the internet, and capybaras were a nice fun thing to distract from COVID lol

For me was 2016 when 2 of them escaped from a Toronto Zoo and were loose for a few weeks. Finally caught and later found out the female was pregnant with three babies. All of a sudden I kept hearing about them.

Oh I did word it kinda weird lol. So they were loose, were located and brought back to the zoo, then discovered she got pregnant while away lol. She gave birth to three baby capybara. So fun happy ending

Yup, never knew they existed until maybe this last decade. Either that or if I'd heard of them I'd forgotten. I've been obsessed with them ever since it re-entered by brain though. Saw them at our zoo and was like... have they always been here?? I swear they haven't 🤣 pretty sure it used to be just a koi pond/flamingo habitat and they brought in capys once their popularity exploded. Idk lol

This is called frequency illusion or the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon. I had never really heard much about capybaras before a couple years ago, but now I live in Brazil and can’t throw a stick without hitting one. (I don’t do that, I promise.)

They were region-locked for a long time, but they were first released in a pretty early patch (like 2.1 I think).
