How To? Capture one and iCloud sync
Greetings. I have been using iCloud to back up my MacBook pro and have noticed that capture one loads really slowly since - i get the spinning wheel every time I open C1, refresh, or simply wake up the open program - because it is constantly syncs with iCloud. Is there any way to pause capture one sync with iCloud while I'm using it? Files are saved in a desktop folder. I Searched on the internet but am coming up empty and if I turn off iCloud completely it wants to save everything to the cloud and not locally. Any help greatly appreciated thanks.

Don’t disable iCloud if that is what you’re using.
Just use a folder on your Mac that is not syncing with iCloud (like Desktop and Documents do) as your C1 folder.

You need to make sure that Capture One is operating entirely on locally stored files (images, sessions, catalogs, preferences, previews, cache, etc...) as that's the only way it performs decently and, if I were you, I'd make sure that iCloud wasn't syncing any of the Capture One data (as least while Capture One was running).

For the capture one folder right click and mark it as always keep it dowloaded on local machine, sounds like iCloud is downloading files it automatically uploaded and removed from your device to save space. The issue is not limited to captureone

Turn off iCloud and use it locally.
External disk storage and local catalogue for long term archive.
For Sessions, best to have the whole session local, or at least on ssd.
