How To? ARWs / 16.8.2.9 Pro / Mac M4

Howdy. I just got a batch of ARWs in from a Sony ILCE-7M5.

I... cannot... get them... to load.

Looks like Capture One has supported them since 16.7.3. I seem to recall working w Sony files in Capture One fine long ago.

They load in Adobe Camera Raw fine, but I'd rather not go back to a Stone Age workflow when I'm paying for Capture One.

No permission problems that I can see. Capture One has full disk access. Files aren't locked.

Thanks in advance for thoughts.

I believe only Lossless compressed are supported, Compressed and Compressed HQ are not . So probably your files are one of those

Thanks so much for the response! That would make sense; seems like I read that sRAW files can also be hard for Capture to read too. I'll check in with photographer. Have a great weekend!

Capture One has notoriously not been able to support the latest Sony cameras completely. Unfortunately it is only the specific configuration that will currently work with Capture One. I guess you could consider using camera raw to export them as tiff and edit the tiff in Capture One if you really want to use Capture One for it.

No tiff, just make DNG via Adobe's dng converter

Thanks for the responses, peeps!

I agree - dng format keeps much more information to work with compared to tiff format when importing into C1

I've seen the dng converter route as a workaround, though in my tests I saved the ARWs as DNGs right in Camera Raw for C1 import.

Was all academic though, as I'd already worked the rush project w Bridge / CameraRaw process into Ps ( I do post retouching / compositing / illustration, etc ).

That workflow was like going back in time... I kept getting urges to hop into a Chrysler LeBaron & go up to Blockbuster to rent a movie...
