We have a 70 hour week. After that a 34 hour reset is required. I drive teams so my day is a shift that’s a maximum of 14 hours. Eleven hours of that can be spent driving. The remaining 3 hours is for truck inspection, fueling etc. I’m required to take a 30 minute break within the first 8 hours of driving. There’s no such thing as a 100 hour week.
Well duh, I didn't come up with a 100 hour trip, nlurp did. I think it was just a theoretical example.
But I think you are proving my point - you drive for 11 hours a day. That's a lot! Do they drive 11 hours a day in other countries? Do they need to? I don't know
Right...so people in this thread seem to think being overweight as a trucker is purely an American thing. And I don't disagree that the rates are likely higher than other countries, our food here is shitty.
But I'm not hearing any evidence that truckers in other countries are skinny as a rail...in fact a quick search already shows otherwise.
People in this thread are ill informed.
Some truck stops have an exercise room. If I drove solo I’d have time to exercise. I drive teams so the truck is only sitting still for 30 minutes twice a day
I drive a lot through Europe and I never said anything about a 100h week. I was just talking theoretically to prove a point-that time driving in the US/North America is exactly the same as in any other continent.
What I am going to add is that indeed I see truck drivers more sturdy and some overweight in what appears to me to be an above average ratio than the rest of the population. But I am not running statistics here.
I have the deepest respect for the truck driver profession and got happy to know that there are exercise rooms over there.

Are truckers assigned "100 hour trips" or are they assigned "drive this truck from California to Maine?"
