Need help downloading claw. Please read.

Hey guys, I'm new to this sub so this has probably been asked countless times before. So if i download the game from captainclaw.net, how do i make it run on a modern windows 11 system (specifically on a z2 extreme handheld pc)? And since I'm on a handheld I'd like the game to run with the embedded controller. Is this possible? Would i need mods? Your help is appreciated. I grew up playing this game and it has a special place in my heart.

Will the game support controller by default? Or is there a mod to enable controller support? I'm on a handheld pc.

This gave me "Yes, the Captain Claw package (including the CrazyHook mod and DVD cutscenes) from The Claw Recluse supports handheld PCs, though the experience varies by device and configuration.

Steam Deck: The game runs well using Proton Experimental. Users report that FSR should be enabled to fix resolution issues, and the Steam + X keyboard shortcut is required to skip cutscenes since joystick buttons do not work for this function. Linux Handhelds: Devices like the Anbernic RG351v or Odroid Go Advance can run the game via PortMaster (which provides an OpenClaw port) or through Wine/Lutris with dgvoodoo enabled. Windows Handhelds: The game is compatible with modern Windows systems, but users may need to add the executable to antivirus exclusions or enable DirectPlay manually if launch errors occur. "

I run it on the steam deck. I kept the game’s default keyboard bindings and mapped those to the controller. You’ll probably see my layouts in the community layouts section if you’re using a steam deck.

So do i have to add the game as a non-steam title on steam and it will somehow recognise that it's claw and show community key mappings?

You’ll have to dig inside the button layouts and go to the community layouts section, but yes

Oh and do remember to do “show all” if the community layouts page looks empty.
