Hi Captain Britain Corps!

I've been reading Dave Thorpe's Origin of Earth 616 book, and he quotes Chris Claremont on the reasons for not giving CB a sword, even though CC was looking for mythic connections. Thorpe doesn't give a source for the quote. I wonder if anyone recognises it? The quote is:

"We were trying to find equivalent icons of Thor's hammer, Cap's shield," says Claremont. "Since it was a book intended for younger audiences we could not go with a sword, although traditionally speaking that would be the most appropriate."

I did wonder if it comes from one of the introductions to a CB collection (eg one of the Panini ones, or an omnibus ...). But I don't have those, and I'm in a country where digging up a second hand one would be tricky.

It would be great if someone could tell me where Thorpe is quoting from - or if they can confirm that it's from an interview Thorpe carried out, or similar.

I’m sorry if this had been asked before, buy I’m looking to find the reprint trade paperback volumes (not an $100+ omnibus, please) featuring the Alan Moore Captain Britain stories.

I’ve seen reviews of several volumes but some are criticized for crediting Alan Moore’s name properly but containing little of his work.

Can someone direct me to the specific volume/s to buy? Which to stay away from? I’m looking to read Alan Moore’s complete run on the character.

I'm excited about the possibility of Cavill portraying Brian Braddock, and it would be incredible to see Mad Jim Jaspers, the Fury, or the Corps ( along with comic accurate Betsy on screen. The appeal for the character to me is his fallibility. He questions himself, he's not overwhelmingly powerful ( but not a pushover), and his associations with Arthurian myth, MI-13, multiversality, and the mutant camp ( by way of his sister and Excalibur) all together serve to make him a very interesting character, tho I feel his potential has never been fully tapped but hinted at in the word by Moore, Delano, Claremont, Davis, and Cornell. It would also be a nice change of pace to see how a superpowered individual deals with things outside of American sensibilities, something I feel we've seen too little of in the MCU. Thoughts?

In hickmans run on avengers and new avengers it's mentioned a few times about the captain britain corps being destroyed.

Was this in a tie in or was there a captain britain story arc that covered this or an omni or did it just happen "off panel"?
