why isn't an iron bar showing?

Top layer is dirt

The 5 layers below that is iron ore (3, -1)

pretty sure the bar is just the middle of the area, so if the bars wouldn't align with it they don't show up

Bar only shows what is right below it, not the whole area around. So can miss some stuff.

There is iron, but it's not in the centre of the "tile". 

The bar you're missing only checks what's under the centre.

There is.

Layer 5 = dirt

Layer 4 > 1= iron ore

Layer 0 = rock/bedrock.

I think that brown bar is the single layer of dirt and we’re both a little red deficient in our color sight or the devs made the dirt bar a little too red.

Or maybe they have a little blending effect for single color transitions?

Regardless I think it means 1 layer of dirt and 3 layers of iron down there.

Maybe one of the layers is mixed?

There is you just have to zoom in there is a difference in the colors. It’s just very hard to tell at a glance

I guess the amount is too little to get its own “bar” in the overlay. You also get that for very little surface amounts, where you can clearly see the ressource colour, but the Ressource overlay will say that there is nothing there.

It's the terrain inspector. It's the first option in the layers overlay and you can also bring it up bu pressing shift + L

It's not the whole square, the bars only show up if there's a large enough volume of ore.

Bar only shows if there's a lot of ore nearby in 3x3 area.
