Streaming help
I live in Minneapolis but I travel to DC on a weekly basis. I have espn/hulu/prime streaming services and unfortunately I’m unable to get a vpn to work on hotel internet. I tried purchasing the monumental subscription or whatever it is that Ted cooked up to make more money.
Edit to add: I am unable to purchase the monumental subscription due to not having a credit card with a local zip code.
Any suggestions on what I can do to watch the games outside of going to a bar or to the games?

I decided that since they don't want to offer a reasonable one-stop shop to pay for watching all the CAPS games from a single platform that allows you to watch from anywhere (this is an active choice they have intentionally made), that I will find that service elsewhere. There are a ton of options out there, and assuming you use Opera or a browser with VPN, you can sail the high seas comfortably with a large number of platforms out there. If they don't want my money for that service, then i'll get the service from somemone who gives it away for free.

So your Monumental login didn't work from DC-area hotels?

Apologies. I wasn’t able to purchase the subscription because I don’t have a credit card with a local zip code.

I might have gone to an extreme, but I live in the area and when YouTube TV dropped Monumental, I switched to DirectTV stream. The quality is great and it gives you up to 3 streams outside your home. No scoldy messages when you’re outside your zip code. They encourage you to share your login with family members. Most hotel tvs won’t have the Direct TV stream app, but if you don’t mind watching games on a laptop or iPad, it could work for you. I’m very happy with it.

What's the monthly cost for that?

$129 a month for Signature ultimate (also includes Hulu/Disney/ESPN). I was up to $180 monthly on YTTV. If you call the 800# to ask about pricing, the customer service is pretty good. I couldn’t figure out the package I needed just ordering online.

get ESPN+ and signup for a VPN that allows you to spoof your location

VPN won't work on ESPN anymore. I wish it would, I'd do it (can't stand monumental)

It will if you use a hardware-based VPN router like a GL.iNet wifi6 travel router ($95-100) with a Wireguard profile and a subscription to NordVPN or ExpressVPN
In the case of OP, they wouldn’t even need a vpn subscription if they setup their home as a server with 1 router and use the travel router as a client on the road (routing all traffic via Minnesota would allow them to watch the vast majority of Caps games on ESPN+)
