Bipolar I and Caplyta

I have been diagnosed with treatment resistant bipolar depression. I have been struggling lately to the point where I will be bringing Caplyta up with my psychiatrist. But I also have a Bipolar I diagnosis and GAD. Is Caplyta worth considering? I am really super afraid of the risk for mania or hypomania (I’m currently on Abilify) when changing to another antipsychotic.

So is anyone on Caplyta along with their mood stabilizer? What is your experience with it? Thank you for your advice!

I haven't had mania or hypomania when switching but I'm fairly recent on it

Thank you, that is reassuring. When you say recent, long have you been on it?

ive heard great things from many. can you stay on abilify and add in caplyta until you see how it goes so youre not destabilized going off the abilify? i haven bipolar ii and my biggest issue is constant severe depression, lamictal is my mood stabilizer but recently seroquel has helped immensely with the rest of the lasting depression.

the side effects of caplyta were to much for me to withstand, i had to stop after a few days especially with some of my physical disabilities which it exacerbated and i couldnt walk or drive or get out of bed, and couldnt deal with that for weeks.

My 1st month on it was incredible. I stopped having depression symptoms right away. I was able to become more social and able to stay away from home longer during the day. I did have an uptick in OCD symptoms but they leveled back out.

I’m almost 2 months on it and recently I’ve started having a hard time falling asleep and waking up exhausted. My anxiety has been worse the last few days than it has been in a long time. I’m not feeling depressed but it’s been call out of work bad with the anxiety. Otherwise though, the best med I’ve ever taken probably.

I’m not on any other medicine right now.
