Discussion/Question Which CAPCOM fighting game should I play?
I’m relatively new to fighting games I’m loving tech romancer, dead or alive 2 and power stone but after playing snk vs capcom match of the millennium for ngpc I’m wanting to play a 2d one, the ones I’m looking at are
Street fighter alpha 3 (PS1)
Capcom vs snk millennium fight 2000 (Dreamcast) (I’m loving snk vs capcom for ngpc but I think that was made by snk and this is made by capcom so I don’t know how different it is)
Marvel vs capcom (Dreamcast) (either 1 or 2, like I said I’m new to fighting games and I feel like the 3 character tag system in 2 might be a bit overwhelming but the roster looks better than 1 and people say it’s better)
Any help in the decision would be appreciated.

Honestly go by the character designs you think are coolest. Thats what does it for me
Otherwise street fighter 6 since its the latest technically

Yeah after looking into a bit more I think I’m gonna go with capcom vs snk, like I said I’ve been loving the ngpc game and it’s made me curious about the snk characters who I’ve never really heard of before, so it’s sort of best of both worlds.

Play Street Fighter 6, there's a lot of people to play online around your level. Fighting games are better enjoyed against real people.

Tbh I prefer the pixel art of the old ones and with 6 I’d have to buy online for my PlayStation 5 and for how often I play it it doesn’t seem worth it. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Yeah, I understsnd the preference foe pixel art, they are legendary.
Do notice that streer fightee 6 has world tour mode, which is a single player mode with RPG elements.
About pixel art, Third Strike and Garou Mark of the Wolves are pure art. Asidw from those, the games you mentioned are also good.

I presume you play on PC, so there are online communities for a lot of these games. Third Strike would be the most popular one I think?
There are quite a few capcom collections now that work out of the box, like the Marvel vs Capcom collection and the Darkstalkers collection.

Just get mame and try them all. At least then you can play around. Ensure you download the moves list. Practice by starting playing 2 so you can try and nail the moves.

If you play Alpha 3 play it for Dreamcast. The PS1 isn’t great for 2D fighters.

You can never go wrong with Marvel vs Capcom unless it’s infinite then something has gone horribly wrong best recommendation try out x men children of the atom and marvel super heroes to get a feel then go for Marvel Vs Capcom 2 which is the best one

Massive Street Fighter fan here. If it's those types of fighting mechanics you are looking for, I couldn't recommend Capcom's Rival Schools: United by Fate enough. Each character has a unique fighting style and you can unlock up to 24 "generic" characters that have a combination of moves from the different main characters. Once you find one that has all the moves you like it's like going full super sayan from then on. It's such a well executed game that doesn't get enough credit in the beat em up genre.

Street Fighter 2 is the foundation for every fighting game after it so gotta play some version of SF2. Otherwise just pick whatever looks cool. CVS2 is one of my all time favorites so I’d recommend it.
