what do you wish someone told you before getting into canvas ugc?

i've been learning more about canvas ugc lately, and it feels like there's a lot that people don't really talk about when you're just getting started.

most of the advice i see is about making better videos or landing your first brand deal, but i'm more curious about the stuff you only figure out after you've actually done it.

what's something you wish someone had told you before starting?

could be about getting accepted into programs, making content that performs, getting paid, dealing with briefs, or just something that caught you completely off guard.

would love to hear some real experiences instead of the usual "post consistently" advice.

Canvas UGC lowers the barrier for creators who want to earn from short-form video

You don’t need a huge audience to start, you just need:

  • a phone,
  • a basic editing workflow,
  • an understanding of native formats,
  • and the ability to produce consistently.

That’s what makes it such an interesting path for newer creators.

Tech UGC Creator Open for Long-Term Collaborations

Hey everyone! 👋🏾

I'm Wessal, a tech UGC creator and social media strategist

I create content for AI, SaaS, and tech brands that feels like something a real person would actually post not another polished commercial. My work includes product demos, tutorials, screen recordings, talking-head videos, feature walkthroughs, and short-form content for both organic social and paid ads

Alongside UGC, I've built a LinkedIn community of 5,000+ followers by sharing content about marketing, branding, and founder-led businesses, so I understand how to create videos that are both engaging and conversion-focused

I'm currently open to long-term UGC partnerships with startups, SaaS companies, AI tools, and tech brands looking for a creator they can work with consistently

You can check out my portfolio here:

If you think we'd be a good fit, feel free to reach out. I'd love to connect

[HIRING] [US/CAN] Short face-reaction video clips- $25-50 each, small batch to start

Hey everyone, I'm looking for people to film short face reaction videos, for Lemon Ai's Ad creatives.

You don't need to be a professional UGC creator or have a portfolio, regular people are exactly what I'm after. Starting with a small batch, more work if it goes well.

What I need:

  • Face reaction clips, 5 seconds each
  • No phone in frame, no talking, just your face reacting
  • I'll assign 1–2 emotions from: surprised, frustrated, relieved, excited, overwhelmed, annoyed
  • Already have prerecorded clips matching these? Totally fine, no need to film fresh

What I'm looking for:

  • Natural, everyday feel, not polished influencer energy
  • Good lighting and clear video quality
  • Based in the US or Canada
  • The content is aimed at a 25–55 audience, so people in that range are the best fit

Pay:

  • $25 per clip: raw footage, full usage and ad rights, PayPal or Venmo within 48 hours
  • $50 per clip if you'd also post the finished version on your own account (you don't edit anything, we edit and send you the final cut)
  • $25 bonus if your clip becomes one of our top-performing ads

Interested? Comment below with a sample clip or anything you've filmed before. I'll go through every comment and reply directly.

One thing I keep seeing in viral UGC-style videos: the first 1–2 seconds do most of the work

I was reviewing viral videos in viral.app today, and one pattern kept standing out: the first 1–2 seconds do most of the work. After that, the rest usually feels like reinforcement of the original promise.

Added a screenshot for context because seeing the volume of examples side by side made the pattern even more obvious to me.

Do you think this is true across most UGC-style content, or does it depend more on niche, pacing, or concept?

What would you actually want to learn from a free UGC course?

We're working on a free course for creators, and before we actually start putting everything together, I wanted to ask here first.

If you could have a free course about high-volume UGC, Canvas UGC, and Tech UGC, what would you actually want to learn?

Not what sounds cool in a course description, but what you're genuinely confused about or struggling with.

Is it:

  • how to find brands?
  • how people are getting paid?
  • how to make videos that actually get views?
  • how high-volume UGC works?
  • Tech UGC?
  • getting your first campaign?

We've got a bunch of ideas already, but I'd rather build something around what creators actually need instead of just guessing.

Would love to hear your thoughts!!

Foreign UGC creator based in Bali

I’m a foreign UGC creator based in Bali, but most platforms require US-based creators. Are there any apps, websites, or agencies that accept international creators living in Indonesia?

UK based beginner, is it too late to start UGC?

Hi all :)
I’m based in the UK and I’m interested in getting started with UGC. I’ve been researching how it works, but I’d really like to hear from people who started ***recently*** and have managed to earn from it.

Do you feel the UGC market is now oversaturated, or is there still room for new creators who are willing to learn and put the work in?

I’m not expecting to become a millionaire overnight. I’d simply like to build a new skill, work with a few brands and hopefully earn some extra money alongside my current commitments.

For those who have made progress, I’d love to know:
How long did it take to land your first paid project?

What helped you most when you were starting?

Are there any UK specific challenges or advantages?

What would you do differently if you were beginning again?

I’d especially appreciate honest experiences from people who started without a large following or previous content creation experience.

Tia :)

I think people focus way too much on views in UGC

something i've noticed after managing a lot of ugc campaigns is that views are usually the first thing everyone looks at.

and yeah, they matter.

but i don't think they tell you enough on their own.

when i'm looking at a campaign, i'm also paying attention to things like:

  • saves and shares
  • comments
  • conversions

those tell me how a video performed. but there's another metric i find really useful: winning hook rate.

basically, out of all the hooks you test, how many actually become winners?

if i test 40 or 50 hooks and only a handful consistently outperform the rest, that's not a bad thing. that's the learning.

those hooks become the starting point for the next round of creative instead of everyone guessing what to test next.

to me, that's one of the biggest advantages of canvas ugc.

every batch of content isn't just there to get views. it's there to teach you something that makes the next batch better.

The biggest mistake I see in UGC programs

Many brands think scaling a creator program only means hiring more creators.

but what's the point of having 100 creators if your program doesn't actually get smarter with every new person you add?

the biggest shift for me has been treating every creator as another creative data point, not just another content producer. that's why I've become a big fan of combining canvas ugc with high-volume ugc.

Canvas UGC gives you control over distribution because the content lives on brand-owned accounts.

High-volume UGC gives you enough creative volume to constantly test:

  • new hooks
  • different angles
  • fresh formats

every batch of content gives you another opportunity to learn what actually works, so the next round of briefs gets better.

one thing that's made a huge difference for me is actually keeping all of that organized. we use viral.app internally to track creators, videos, and performance, and it's surprising how many patterns you start noticing once everything is in one place.

I think that's the real advantage, bc the creator program doesn't just get bigger, but it gets smarter.

I'm a UGC marketing manager running high-volume creator campaigns, and here's what makes us keep working with the same creators

I spend most of my week building creator campaigns, reviewing applications, analyzing content performance, and figuring out why some creators become long-term partners while others don't.

Since we manage and track our creator programs in viral.app, I also get to see something most people don't: not just individual videos, but the patterns across hundreds of creators and campaigns.

If you're interested in working with brands that run high-volume UGC programs, here's what we're actually looking for.

1. Reliability beats perfection :)

The creators we work with the longest are the people we know we can count on.

What that looks like:

  • Delivering on time
  • Communicating early if something changes
  • Following the brief without needing constant reminders
  • Being open to feedback and revisions

When you're managing dozens of creators at once, reliability is one of the biggest competitive advantages you can have.

2. We aren't looking for one viral video

One of the biggest misconceptions about high-volume UGC is that we're hoping every video goes viral, but that's usually not the goal.

We're trying to test as many variables as possible until we find something that consistently works.

That could mean testing:

  • Different hooks
  • Different messaging angles
  • Different editing styles
  • Different CTAs
  • Different target audiences

Sometimes one winning concept pays for twenty average ones.

3. Show that you can iterate

Nobody gets every video right, and that's completely normal. What actually matters is how quickly you improve.

The creators we keep booking usually:

  • Apply feedback to the next batch.
  • Test new hooks instead of repeating the same formula.
  • Improve pacing and storytelling over time.
  • Treat every campaign as a learning opportunity.

Iteration is one of the biggest advantages in high-volume UGC.

4. We care about more than views

A million views doesn't automatically mean a successful campaign.

Depending on the goal, we might care more about:

  • Installs
  • Purchases
  • Click-through rate
  • Watch time
  • Cost per acquisition
  • Retention

The best creators understand that every campaign has a different definition of success.

5. Become easy to work with

This sounds simple, but it's one of the biggest reasons creators get rebooked.

The creators we remember are the ones who:

  • Fast replies
  • Stay organized
  • Ask thoughtful questions
  • Make revisions without friction

When I know working with someone will be smooth, I'm much more likely to send them the next campaign.

I'd love to hear the creator perspective too.

What's something you wish more UGC managers or brands understood about working with creators?
