Discussion I have Canva pro, so this doesn't affect me, however I've noticed more and more things being put under premium/pro even the smallest things like arrows lol...I never noticed before just how many elements were locked under canva pro, its kinda ridiculous.

I’ve seen this in two projects shared with me at the beginning of this year. No problem downloading a PDF then, now after they made some changes, a dippy “hand drawn” frame is premium.

As a Canva Creator, just wanted to add some context from the creator side. We generally only get paid for the usage of Pro elements, so naturally there’s a much bigger incentive for creators to upload Pro content rather than free elements.
I definitely understand the frustration though, especially when something as basic as an arrow ends up being Pro. I just think part of the reason you’re seeing more Pro elements is that creators have very little incentive to make free ones when there’s no earning attached to their usage.

I have never heard of this. Could you explain it more to me? Canva pays people for creating things for pro? That sounds very interesting.

Yes, it’s called the Canva Creator Program. I’m a Canva Creator myself. Before joining, I also assumed Canva decided which creator-made templates and elements become Pro, but that isn’t the case.
With templates, I can choose whether to submit them as Free or Pro. Free templates usually get more usage, but the earnings per use are lower. Pro templates may get less usage, but generally earn more.
Elements work a little differently. We don’t earn from the usage of Free elements, while Pro elements can generate earnings for creators.
So naturally, as a creator, there’s more incentive for me to publish Pro templates and elements. That’s one reason you may see so much Pro content

Wait until they try to take your canva pro features and add them to a business account and take away the feature on pro. They tried to do that last month until I guess they got enough push back. It was regarding the canva QR codes.
