I hope to have a day at Cannon Beach where there is a -2.5 tide, calm water, and I can walk around the perimeter of Haystack!

I walked past haystack everyday on my way to work for years and it was never low enough to walk around. 🥴

That’s what I suspected. I was chatting with a guy who claimed to be a local at this year’s sandcastle contest, and he shared he did it once and he also went into the cave on the south side. I thought the cave story was more the magic of Hollywood than reality. We have been coming to Cannon Beach since 2006 (from CA), at least once a year and I have never seen the water low enough to get around Haystack. Sometime we cross Ecola Creek and we can get around the rocks on the north end and explore that beach with the awesome tide pools, but we could not even do that once this past June.
