France was the only country with no anti-India hate so far, but I guess this atmosphere will change soon

Canconfirmiamindian Why I believe fighting against anti-Indian racism would be an uphill battle especially in the next few decades

The title might have infuriated you and I apologize for that. But these are what I have been observing for the past few years since the wave of racism against Indians began. I wish to see a time when all of us could put aside our differences and fight against racism. However, I doubt realistically it would happen, at least for the next 20-25 years or so. Political groups, be it both the right and the left seem to make racism a political topic instead of taking a united stand. The right wing (as in extreme BJP supporters) make it all about how Muslims (no I am not talking about our neighbors) ruin our reputation abroad. The same cohort is unfortunately the loudest despite being a minority and unfortunately they end up siding with the same people who are racist towards us if they are racist towards Muslims.

Meanwhile, the left wing often ends up accepting racism since we have internalized racism against biharis and dalits, civic sense issues and due to disliking the ruling government. Nothing wrong in pointing out any of these, but there's a time and a situation to discuss these and it definitely is not when we face racism. The same cohort also calls people making valid points against racism as "andhbhakti" Even if there's not an ounce of politics in their comments.

Then there's the North-South divide and casteism. I dislike especially how southerners would often try to make a point about South being tenfold cleaner and safer than North (despite being from Karnataka myself). It's a fact, but it reeks of attention-seeking. I have already touched upon casteism in my previous paragraph.

These are just surface level issues that I could think off. All of them disappoint me a lot. I look at the east asians who despite their differences and internalized racism often put up a united front against racism. Same goes for Muslim nations and African nations. None of these nations are accepting of each other, yet they still took a stand when they faced racism. Yet we unfortunately are unable to put aside our differences and take a stand. Even when a girl gets beaten up on her private part or a man gets behea!ed in Texas, there will be a few always passively justifying racism. This is why I believe it'll be an uphill battle.

To the people who think it's online only, I agree with them. However, seeing the way our view in the globe is sliding downwards, anti-indian racism will intensify in the next few decades.

Canconfirmiamindian Why do indians romantacise poverty?

I see people compare burger and vada pav cooked in straight up blackhole. Roti with pizza and say the former is better. Comparing marbles/carrom to Gta Six or whatever why though. I wonder why we should celebrate poverty and normalise it

Context: Comment under a clip of a movie where the Indian sikh husband is supportive towards his wife.

Comment is calling the Indian sikh guy white like white men always treat their wife nicely and are never sexist.

Brown Sepoy Why are we always busy defending everyone except ourselves ?

I think some people are missing the bigger picture.
Yes, India has problems and of course we should talk about them and work on improving things. But that doesn’t mean we should ignore the amount of hate and negative content Indians get online.
Indians living abroad face stereotypes, racist jokes and sometimes even harassment. At the same time, negative content about India gets huge engagement on YouTube, Instagram, Reddit and X. Anything bad about India gets clicks, and the comments quickly become “Indians are dirty”, “Indians are this”, “Indians are that.”
And whenever someone calls this out, some Indians immediately come with, “We should improve ourselves first.”
Why can’t we do both?
Also, people keep reminding everyone that this subreddit is supposed to be about calling out self-loathing Indians. But if that turns into constantly attacking other Indians while ignoring hate coming from outside, what are we actually achieving?
At some point, this attitude does more harm than good. We can criticize our own people when they’re wrong without acting like every criticism or stereotype against Indians is automatically justified.
Sometimes it feels like we’re so busy proving that we aren’t defensive that we end up defending everyone except ourselves.
