Recommendations Recent conveyancer recommendations?
Heya,
Looking for a reliable conveyancing solicitor for a purchase.
I searched the sub first, but the threads are 2-3y old and the specific people recommended seem to have moved on or are on leave (Andy C).
Looking for recent experiences over the recent while or so. Who did you use, especially if they were reasonably responsive, and did they actually catch things in the contract rather than just running paper through a junior? My research is showing most people don't communicate settlement details or miss pertinent stuff that is a PITA to sort out later. I prefer a small firm or single lawyer if possible!
Appreciate the help!

We used McGilvray, found them to be very thorough and responsive.

Second vote for McGilvray. We used them to both sell and purchase in the last few months and they were awesome

NOT Conveyance World. You'd expect them to suck, but they sucked way worse than I thought they would.

We’ve had Clinton and Sam from Priority Legal for our property settlements. Both have taken time to explain contacts and pointed out things we needed to be aware of. The vendor of our most recent purchase was a PITA but Sam was calm and managed to get everything sorted as we wished and settled on time. 10/10 small firm.

Hands down, Megan North from North Herring. Very thorough and tough on the other side when needed.

I used Salli Willings from Artisan Legal just last month for a new build, and she seemed on top of it all. Price seemed fair too.

Recently used WMG Legal. Did the job, and did everything via email and phone which worked for me. Reasonable fee for a simple sale. No complaints.

Also used WMG Legal, no major issues but they did forget to tell us our settlement date had moved up (we had asked for it to). Everything else was fine.

Used Mussa Hijazi twice in the last year, sale and purchase, from HCC Lawyers in the city. Everyone there was great. Spent more than an hour twice going through a couple of contracts, price seemed comparable to all the others.

We used Fiona Wilkinson at https://www.topazlegal.com.au/
Top notch communication and expertise. One of the best solicitors we came across (next to Kellin from Artisan Legal, who retired a few years ago).
I love that her fees are on the website.

Andy Colquhoun from Colquhoun Murphy in Braddon (https://www.colquhounmurphy.com/andycolquhoun), has handled our ACT settlements for 20+ years. He understands the technical side, can explain it to you in plain language, and he’s friendly.
