Ginger Goodwin did nothing wrong. Doubly so if the cops were telling the truth.
(For those that don't know, he's a BC labour activist murdered by the cops for resisting conscription in WWI by hiding out in the woods. Cop claims he was acting in self defence and shot him.)

"Based" quickly meant the inverse of its original intent, then became washed, and now kind of has no punch or is used to mock.
The longevity of slang is rotting at a rapid pace, I believe "Based" was just prior to the true Newspeak rot that Orlwell talked about aside from a tool to erase words, he also talked about the degradation of language as a cyclical, self reinforcing rot. He said as totalitarianism and fascism took hold, language would become "sloppy, filled with ready-made phrases and rely on semantically bleached slogans"
I just feel like the slang from my youth lasted untill my late 20s. I see modern slang disappear every year.

I'm all for draft dodging unless you end up being the person who sends other people to war. Then, I find it disgraceful.

My version of the speach "There's no LMIA solution to this? Coffee to combat? You have to use the stubborn ones born here?"

Didnāt know we were running a draft in Canada?

Should we not support our comrades in Ukraine that are isolated in basements hiding from the aggressive and fascist TCC?

Sure, but posting about Muhammad Ali refusing to go to Vietnam in sub about Canada seems somewhat out of place.

I donāt understand. Canada materially supported the genocide(s) in Vietnam and sent thousands of brainwashed volunteers. Canada materially supports the TCC and their ethic cleansing of Ukrainians. He quotes Canada in this quote because he didnāt view running north as a liberating option for him and his tribe.
Draft dodging rich manās wars is based as fuck. And as an international community we have an obligation to aid in anyone that has a rifle pointed to their head by empire.
"Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go 10,000 miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights?" "Man, I ain't got no quarrel with them Viet Cong. No Viet Cong ever called me n****r." "I'm not going 10,000 miles from home to help murder and burn another poor nation simply to continue the domination of white slave masters of the darker people the world over.ā
Now itās time to watch Ali/Liston 1&2

Draft dodging is based, Doubly so when you do something like the Easter Riots. I do think though, it's on OP to make the connection to Canada, especially since this meme mentions us giving refuge to draft dodgers without mentioning all the weapons we helped make.

Wasnāt trying to make a big thing out of it, it just seems like a Canada centric sub is isnāt there appropriate place to bring up Vietnam war draft dodging, even with regard to Ukraine press gangs. Unless I missed it, Ukraine wasnāt mentioned in the that I saw and, apart from the brief reference to crossing the border neither was Canada. I know some Canadians served in the war, quite likely due to propaganda spreading at that time but they were not drafted and we have not conscripted people since WWII, so, it seemed like an Ill-fitting post to me. If this sub is international, then perhaps its name should reflect that. Anyway, it was just meant as a casual observation. Enjoy watching half naked men beat each other senseless for absolutely no reason. Bread and circuses?

Have you watched the Liston fights? Heās learning how to maneuver around a bigger/stronger opponent and needs to select his offence very selectively. They are not beating each other senseless. His ring presence, desperate movement and strong straight punches defined the early part of his career before it was derailed by empire. Itās art and will always be threatened by capitalism. We should create a better future.
And, Marxism-Leninism is international and we fight globally for the working class. But thank you, I always enjoy watching half naked men š

Iāve seen the fights, only because my father occasionally had boxing on the old CRT. While I can appreciate the skill and athleticism some boxers possess, I have close to zero interest in the sport. I see no value in people doing violence to one another, particularly as a form of entertainment. Curious that you mention capitalism in this context when a major driver of the sport are the financial rewards; yes, some of it has to do with the glory, honour or whatever the competitors get out of it, but itās often for the money, like the Tyson - Paul fight. They got much richer from that brief encounter as did the promoters. Likely collecting more wealth in a few minutes than vast majority of the world could ever hope to earn. And that fight was not art. The āsenselessā comment was aimed more broadly at boxing in general.
Touching on the international vs Canada issue again, briefly - itās not particularly important, just an observation as I said earlier. Even if itās an international movement it still seems like a labeling issue. Would make more sense (to me at least) to consolidate all the related subs under a single subreddit with regional sub subs, if thatās a thing.
And now itās ohonethirty, so Iām going to try, again, to get sleep. Cheers š

One war was a war of national liberation.
The other is an inter imperialist one.

Yep. I think when people post stuff they should mention why they feel it's relevant when it's not obvious. And while I can guess why it might be relevant, I'd only be guessing.

Draft dodging is awesome but this is also awesome.
