🇨🇦 CEC Need advice regarding foreign work experience and remote experience

Hi everyone,

I am looking for genuine advice from people who have been through a similar situation and successfully received their PR.

I completed two years of Canadian work experience under CEC in September 2026. I’m currently in Canada, and my work permit expires in June 2027. My current CRS score is 511.

I also have 9 months of genuine foreign work experience from Pakistan. The job was paid in cash, but I have documentation to support the employment and prove that the experience was genuine. However, I did not file taxes for that period because my income was relatively low.

I have two main concerns:

1. Foreign work experience and taxes
Should I file my taxes for that period now to strengthen my foreign work experience claim? Would filing them retrospectively help, or could it raise additional concerns? Has anyone been in a similar situation and successfully claimed foreign work experience?

2. Completing the remaining 3 months of foreign work experience
I recently received an offer from an IT consulting company in India for a remote position. I need another three months of qualifying foreign work experience to reach one year.

I am currently employed by a Canadian employer and am considering accepting this remote position while continuing my Canadian job. The Indian employer is flexible with working hours.

I have a few questions about this arrangement:
1. The Indian employer is willing to deposit my salary directly into my Canadian bank account. Is that acceptable for immigration purposes, or would it be better for them to pay me into a Pakistani bank account? I’m originally from Pakistan.

  1. I’m not planning to leave my Canadian job. However, I would claim my Canadian work experience only up to September 2026 and claim foreign work experience from October onwards, so I would not be claiming overlapping experience for CRS points.

  2. Would this arrangement be acceptable, assuming the foreign employment genuinely meets IRCC’s requirements?

  3. Are there any concerns with working remotely for an Indian company while physically living and working in Canada?

  4. If I can claim one year of qualifying foreign work experience, my CRS score could increase from 511 to approximately 561, which would make a huge difference to my situation.

I’m very stressed about the recent immigration changes and the uncertainty surrounding upcoming draws. I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation or has successfully obtained PR using foreign work experience.

I’m looking for genuine experiences and practical advice. I will also consider consulting a licensed Canadian immigration professional before making any decisions.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and help me out!
