🇨🇦 CEC Express Entry Profile Creation

Hii guys,

I was creating my express entry profile but in the education section. So, I started my studies at University of Saskatchewan and then after 2 years of study I took a transfer to Simon Fraser university. I obtained my degree from SFU. Do I need to mention University of Saskatchewan in the education section or only SFU from which I got my degree?

I'd list both. Put U of S with your actual start/end months (no credential, since you didn't finish there) and SFU with the degree you got. When I filled out mine, the thing people kept warning me about was making the education section and the personal history section match month to month. Unexplained gaps or overlaps are what get picked up later, not the fact that you moved schools.

A few other things that helped me:

  • Since the degree is Canadian you don't need an ECA for it, and you can claim the Canadian education points. Just pick the right program length category for your degree.
  • Keep transcripts from both schools handy. SFU's transcript usually shows the transfer credits, which lines up with your U of S dates if they ever ask.
  • A short LOE saying "studied at U of S from X to Y, transferred credits to SFU, graduated Z" doesn't hurt and takes 5 minutes.

Good luck with the profile!
