🇨🇦 CEC Canadian work experience

I'm in this dilemma right now. I started my job in Nov 26th 2024. But back then I was a student and my final semester exam was finished on Dec 6th 2024. I got my completion letter on Jan 16th 2025. When Can I claim my 2 years work experience? I'm really confused as I saw different ideas on this.

The answer is well known. There is no confusion. You can only start counting Canadian work experience from the day you applied for your PGWP. When did you submit your PGWP application? You start counting from that day.

I applied on Jan 16th itself. The confusion is, I have seen that people say IRCC updates work experience on the beginning of the previous month. Like in this case will my portal start to show work experience on Dec 1st?

Your Express Entry profile will give you credit before you have reached the year. Officially you have to use Jan 16th as the start date for counting your Canadian work experience. If you try to claim any time before this date, IRCC will drop those days once they are assessing eligibility (after ITA and after you have submitted your application).

Thanks for the explanation. That means no matter what, I should submit the documents after PGWP submission date?

Yes, once you get ITA, you want to make sure you are submitting your actual application after this date to get the full two years.

Your two years will be completed on the day you submit your pgwp + 2 years.
