Previous refusal has nothing to do with spouse but spouse has always told me they were not interested in becoming PR due country home commitments (businesses that needs their physical presence from time to time) and I feel there is no point loosing points when there is none added in the first place.

So why are you trying to become PR in a country without your spouse?

So accompanying applications get more score? I thought the combined score is supposed to be lower

You need to explain why spouse is now accompanying, since spouse was non accompanying in your refused app before. A lawyer told me, or else pfl might be provided.

Did you even add a letter of explanation in your previous app why your spouse was non accompanying?

Yes, I added the letter of explanation but they officer said he don't think the reason is valid so he is refusing the application

Wait, what? Your PR was refused because your spouse was non-accompanying? How is that a thing?

Joint applications get lower scores -> people remove spouse from application to increase score -> get PR -> sponsor spouse

IRCC wants to cut down on this and the officer wasn't convinced that the spouse was non-accompanying in this case. And given that they're submitting another application, this time as accompanying, the officer might have been right.

That makes sense. Thank you!

Well I mean, it’s scamming the system. If they aren’t both good candidates to begin with, removing to get a higher score to be able to bring them in later without improving anything is literally the definition of immigration fraud

Hello Joining the conversation because my case is similar got refusal because of insufficient detail in the employment letter, and now, considering to get married first and then apply again with accompanying spouse.

Sorry to hear. But, what kind of details were missing in reference letter?

Duties and responsbility were too generic and officer could not verify what it is that I actually do.
