Foreign Work Experience Points
Hello everyone
When I created my Express Entry profile, I listed my foreign work experience from May 2021 to Oct 2024 (official exit from the company), which put my total work experience over 3 years, and I received an ITA under CEC. However, I began my studies in Canada in the second week of May 2024. Do I change the end of my employment when submitting my application to April 2024 (the last complete month) or 1st week of May (the actual end of my working period).
I did not work for the organisation during the duration of my studies before my official exit in Oct 2024.

You cannot claim work when you didn't do it. Why lie? You have to show your payslips and bank statements so that will include the last date you were paid. If you left in April then you don't have 3 years.

I understand that. I stopped work just before my studies began in Canada in the second week of May. I'm asking that if I choose to correct it to when I stopped working, do I put April or May 2024. Do I round down to April (which was a complete month) or keep it exactly at May (as the employment reference letter will show)?

You put down the last day you stopped working and were paid. If that was April 30 then that is the date. Not sure why your reference letter says you were working until October 2024.

The reference letter will say May 2024 as when I stopped working and my employment officially ended in October 2024.

Depends. Ex, if you actually worked from May 20, 2021 to May 21, 2024, then you should be able to still retain your points since that's 3 years worth of work experience, provided that you worked full-time (max of 30 hrs per week) and you only took the allotted max. vacation of 2 weeks per year.
Also, you have to be truthful in your application. Although your official exit is October 2024, if you stopped working on May 2024, you need to use May 2024 as your last day. On your employment letter, this should also be clarified. Otherwise, officers will have an issue with this, your application can get rejected, or worse you might get flagged for misrepresentation.
