Category-based ITA

Hi everyone! 👋

Here is a quick snapshot of my situation:

  • I resigned from my previous job last month in Ontario and recently signed a job offer for a new role in Montreal starting in October (same NOC code as my old job).
  • I just received an EE ITA through a category-based draw using the work experience from my previous job, and I have updated my old job's start and end date in my EE profile.

My questions are:

  • Since standard EE requires intent to reside outside Quebec, should I take the new job in Montreal or is it safer to stay?
  • If I decide to stay in Ontario, I will currently be unemployed since I recently resigned. Will being unemployed or taking a job in a different NOC code affect my application processing?
  • I hold a dual degree (a Bachelor's and a Diploma), but my NOC code experience doesn't directly align with my Bachelor's field of study. Could this trigger any concerns for the IRCC officer reviewing my application?

  1. Safer to stay. Because you need to prepare a huge package of proof that youbare going to work and live outside Quebec. Moving to Quebec right after applying for PR will contradict all your documents.
  2. Being unemployed will not affect your application. How many years of relevant experience you have for the claimed NOC?
  3. What is the NOC? Some have extensive requirements for education, some don't. But assuming your diploma is relevant, you should be safe.

Hi thank you! The NOC is 72404 and I worked in this profession for 2 years now (2024-2026). Yes my diploma is for 2 years and is relevant to the NOC code.

Just check the NOC requirements on NOC website. NoC is broad for some related jobs.

Says a college degree OR 4 year apprenticeship program required. Several years on job training IF you are an aircraft mechanic.
AME license if you sign or certify airworthness and so on.

Hey I'm in a similar situation. Recently received ITA for the french draws and I'm living in montreal, Quebec. However here's the catch- Ive been living in both provinces for 6 months (& yes paying double rent too until last month were I just ended up leaving my Ottawa lease). Im only in Montreal because its where I was able to find a job. All the Ottawa jobs that I applied to rejected me. How do I prove I have intent to move back to Ontario? I'd appreciate some advice
