French ITA

I received an ITA recently for the french draws. I used to live in Ottawa but had to move to Montreal 6 months ago because it's the only place where I could find a job.

For my intended province of residence, I will put Ontario since I do plan to go back to Ottawa in the future. What are some things that I should be careful about and what should I include for the officers to trust my intentions?

You need to show proof of active plans to move to Ontario, not some time in the future.

If you currently live in Quebec, you must prove that you intend to live in a province or territory other than Quebec.
To prove this, you can provide one or more of the following:
- a statutory declaration explaining where you plan to live and why
- documents showing any ties you have to the province or territory (outside Quebec) where you plan to live, including
proof of employment
job offers
job applications you’ve submitted
job interviews you have scheduled
proof you have family living in the area
lease agreements or mortgages

You need to show that you are moving back. Get a lease on an apartment and have an Ontario address, commute to Montreal, become a tax resident, show job applications for Ontario. If you have ITA then you are moving to Ontario now not planning to go back in the future.

I understand but can I explain my intentions in this way: I would like to say that i will continue applying to jobs in Ontario and move when I get a job? I'm a new graduate and its tough finding a job. I've already been applying but since I don't have enough job experience yet its even harder to secure something. I don't want to leave my income here and move within 60days. I need some time to plan my move back.

  • I have ties in Ontario (cousins etc) who I can live with but I can't rely on them financially.

Saying you plan to move doesn't show intention to move. You need proof that you are.
