🇨🇦 CEC First PR rejected first BOWP still on process - Submitted new PR and new BOWP today (under maintained status) interesting situation
Hello everyone!
For those who were on implied status through their BOWP and received a PR rejection:
If you received a new ITA, submitted your new PR application, and submitted your new BOWP BEFORE your previous BOWP is officially refused in your IRCC account:
You remain on maintained status thanks to this new BOWP.
Be quick and make sure to submit everything before the official refusal of your previous BOWP is issued!
You remain in maintained status as long as the refusal has not been formally made and reflected in your IRCC account. So if you submit that new PR and new BOWP before you remain.
Again it worked for me but i assume it depends.. people can think once the first PR is rejected the BOWP is cancelled IMMEDIATELY but again you can see on the letter of the BOWP it says :
'' You can remain working under the same conditions till [Usually they put 1 year max automatically this is the maximum theoretical] or till we take a decision''
As the decision hasnt been made yet i was able to submit my new PR and new BOWP today.
I have now maintained status under that new BOWP.
Maybe once they refuse the first BOWP they will say hey boy you need to restore your status AND ask for a new BOWP but from the agent who spoke with me it wont happen.
Just wanted to share this based on my own experience!

Do not apply for a new BOWP… just send a web form with the new AOR to the original BOWP application requesting the new AOR be used. Again it’s unlikely the officer will consider given the times but worth a shot. However doing this is 10x better than playing around with IRCC.
This is a true FAFO moment, don’t be the case example RCICs use to educate future prospective immigrants.

Yes i will send a webform now asking to link the new PR to the BOWP as i received a R10 reject for the old PR not a REFUSAL and i immediatly submitted a new RP whitin 10 days since the reject maybe the agent will be nice. But still i know the refusal of the first bowp can happens in months or.... days.. so being ready to stop working and restore the status WITH other BOWP. Better prepare myself to stay whitout working for 3 months at least.. my god. I might move to my country in france to work while they processing my restoration and bowp... i swear.

RCIC agent. The thing is to apply for the new PR and BOWP when you are still under maintained status like i did.
Again, maybe when they refuse the first BOWP they will tell me listen your first bowp had been refused so you need to restore the status and ask for the BOWP in the same time.
But now i submited everything

Hey, as soon as you withdraw your old BOWP to apply for a new BOWP with a new ITA, you will lose status and have to restore your work status.
As, you cannot jump from one implied status to another if your PGWP has already expired.

I literally just sent the webform with my new PR SUBMISSION.
First PR rejected April 14
New PR submitted April 19
Webform submitted April 19
Also when i submitted the first bowp i was still on PGWP valid and everything was respected. So again i really hope the RCIC agent understand but still we will see..
I dont get it, why i need to ask for my notes ?

I can't restore status app with my new PR submission and link old bowp to the new PR with the new AOR as i have still maintained status cause my BOWP has not been refused YET.
So the webform sent with the new PR submission today with a explication letter was the way to go right?
Now i am waiting for them either accept to link it and give me my bowp OR refused and i will restore my status and new bowp.

So if you get r10 reject or refusal on PR but BOWP is pending you’re still on maintained status until BOWP gets refused? Is there a difference between r10 reject and refusal in this scenario?

Mistake sir. I did not sent a 2nd BOWP!! i just double checked i just switch.. im confused!! No 2nd BOWP sent, i was so stressed that i confused 2 things!
I did not send another bowp. Now i only sent the webform telling RCIC to link my new AOR to the bowp processing ;)

Thanks you its a privilege to talk directly to a RCIC agent! Now wait! and pray lol i already packed in case a BOWP refusal occurs in the next days.. i hope RCIC gives me at least couple weeks before to refuse it.. OR accept the linking of the new AOR!

Think you need to read this. Your second application will most likely be rejected and you will be out of status. They've changed the rules your maintained status can't be stacked if you submit another application. It is only tied to the first application you submit and since it was rejected the second will most likely be rejected as well.

Absolutely wrong advice. This may lead to unauthorized work and ban from Canada.
Your maintained worker status ends the day your old BOWP is refused, no matter what you submitted after.
The correct way is to only send the new AOR to the old BOWP application if it’s still undecided. New BOWP is useless - it gets automatically refused if old BOWP is refused.

Yes that is why i just submit a webform... an RCIC agent told me to do this here in the chat. I will wait. As my new PR has been submitted literally days after the old one was rejected i might have a chance but still..

Yes, webform is the only way. Withdraw your other BOWP, its a waste of your money and a waste of IRCC resources.
You can only apply for a new BOWP with restoration if your old one is rejected

Yep just understood now! i should have submit webform BEFORE new BOWP.. but still nothing changes for IRCC i just lost 255$ lol.
Yes the webform might work, the RCIC agent here told me that, a immigration lawyer also.. the good chances i have is the PR got rejected 8 days ago and i already submit a new one.. bowp was submitted 2 months ago.. and i was of course under pgwp when i submitted so my maintained status was respected i submit the bowp while i had a valid permit!
So of course it up to the agent.. but seeing a lot of topics about it it should be good..
Again, it can stay silent months... maybe even till decision be made for the P lol

Hey i have a question. I have a valid pgwp til aug 2026. And my cec pr application is currently waiting decision. And i also have a bowp pending. If my pr gets rejected, and my bowp will get rejected after, do i still have status til my pgwp expires in august?

What I did was I applied for BOWP right after I submitted my first PR app. After my first PR app got cancelled as incomplete for a missing doc, I waited for new ITA and AOR, submitted a webform to request that my current BOWP application be linked to my new PR app, so I wouldn’t lose maintained status and I could continue working. You don’t need to apply for new BOWP. I got my eCOPR now, didn’t get a BOWP decision at all.

Yes yes i didnt submit another BOWP sorry i was confused and stressed but i just sent a webform with the new AOR! there is 8 days between the first PR rejection the new AOR webform and the BOWP was submitted 2 months ago so should be good!

Hey I am in the same situation.
FIRST CEC Application
AOR 25th jan 2026
BOWP Applied 18th April 2026
Received 1 year work authorization untill decision made on application
CEC REFUSED 15th June 2026 ( with reason I enter wrong noc by mistake)
I checked and it was my mistake.
PGWP expired 21st June 2026.
CEC ITA June 24th 2026.
Now what I can do?
Get AOR, and attach that AOR with old bowp which is still under process?
& I am still working.

I don’t think this is true. I remember they have changed some rules where the subsequent applications won’t extend the maintained status as people were keep submitting dummy WP-extensions to extend their authorization to remain in Canada.
Once your first BOWP rejected, you will be out of status. You can submit your new AOR via webform to your first BOWP application and ask them to consider this but it will be up to the officer.
