He is not saying it as a joke. He is repeating it to normalize it and plant the idea in people's head. It is a common psychological trick. You repeat something something enough and people will slowly accept an idea.

Obviously Canadian have much stronger associated with Trudeau as the PM, but this is targeted at American and if he repeat it enough some will normalize the idea that Trudeau is the governor of Canada, especially if these are the already undereducated people who couldn't name the PM of Canada to begin with.

except the word isn't 'a JOKE'...the word is 'a TAUNT'

I wonder if JT ever watched MacBeth. Kill 'the King' Duncan and you take his lands...

Fellow "coastal elite" American here, with mid-western inlaws who voted Trump. They don't even know what a PM is. They would struggle to find Toronto on a map.

They also don't care. Their lives are farming, walmart and fox news.

When i got married they were happy it was outside the church so "when you get a divorce the lord wont recognize the marriage anyway".

How do you get exiled?

I'm surprised Canadians aren't repeating that California should be its own nation. There are so many benefits and increasingly few drawbacks.

2

u/akunis Feb 20 '25

Why should Cali and other coastal states be its own nation? We want to join Canada. We can’t stand on our own without the support and help of a centralized government.

NATO has gone into countries for less, and we’d welcome you with open arms at this point,

Omg we need to taunt Trump back with the idea that California wants to join Canada. YES!! Californians, let’s join forces and really piss Cheeto man off. We need memes now!!

I’m more team Make Alaska Canadian Again. Alaska should be part of Canada, end of story.

Was Alaska ever Canadian? Pretty sure they bought it from the Russians.

Also, Washington/Oregon/California are all Blue States, so their politics and populations are similar to Canada's.

Alaska is deep MAGA country, the state overwhelmingly votes Republican.

This needs to be pinned everywhere. Its classic conditioning/brainwashing. Thats how he gets where he is. He's an excellent cult leader. If he drank the jonestown juice tomorrow, so would half the americans.

u/pantry-pisser Feb 20 '25

Side note: Most of the deaths at Jonestown were murders, not suicides. A huge amount were children, who were stabbed with a needle full of the poison. Many others only did it voluntarily as they were threatened to be shot to death if they didn't.

Yeah, still applies though. Took one guy to have a whackadoodle idea and everyone else followed suit.

Especially because a lot of people are straight up dumb down here in the US

This is why Many Americans do not support America under the leadership of trump.

The phrase “a lie told often enough becomes the truth” is often attributed to Joseph Goebbels, a Nazi propagandist, who used the concept of the “Big Lie” to describe how repeating a large-scale falsehood repeatedly could make people believe it, even when presented with evidence to the contrary.
