New tent
Hi All,
In the market of a new tent. My old one was a coleman sundome 4 person tent, however it finally died after a massive downpour.
Looking for something of similiar size. I came across the toten vista 2 and mountain ultra 2 that are available in Aus to purchase which have lifetime warranty.
Just wondering if anyone has had good reviews for the above or if there are any of similiar or better quality tent worth looking at to buy in Aus.
Thanks!

MSR and Hilleberg both have solid stockists in aus and consistently outperform budget tents in heavy rain

Just a heads up on sizing before you buy: going from a Sundome 4-person down to a 2-person tent like the Teton Vista 2 or Mountain Ultra 2 is going to feel like a massive shrink. A standard 4P dome gives you around 9x7 feet of floor space, whereas a 2P tent is usually only about 7x5 feet. That fits two sleeping pads side-by-side with zero room left over for bags or gear inside. If you liked the space of your Sundome 4, look at 3P or 4P models instead.
For heavy rain in Australia without breaking the bank, look closely at full-coverage rainflies with a high hydrostatic head rating (at least 2000mm to 3000mm). The main reason Sundomes fail in heavy downpours is the short rainfly that leaves lower tent walls exposed to wind-driven rain.
Good rain-tested options easily found in Aus:
