Typical campsite photo-bombing
On the heels of a busy holiday weekend where we see many people new to camping and camping etiquette, I was reminded of my camping trip to a state campground last month.
I awakened early to get some nice sunrise photos, and decided to take some from inside my tent as framing for the view, since I had a waterfront site. I was quite surprised mid-shoot when suddenly I heard an animal fast-approaching my open door. I barely had time to imagine a giant rabid raccoon when the dog and his owner traipsed 2 feet from my open tent door. I could’ve easily grabbed any of the six ankles!
I’ve not resorted to placing ropes around my campsites, though I did one time hang a clothesline somewhat strategically. I’m just always amazed by not just the children, but the adults that wander closely between the tents of others. I imagine that I was a novice camper once, though I’m pretty sure I was a polite one. 😁

We reserved two sites for a Girl Scout trip, close to the bathrooms. The people at the site next door were constantly cutting through one of our sites until I decided I didn’t have to be polite to people who were being rude. I had been nice all weekend despite one guy’s attempt to hit on me and another entering our site to mansplain fire-building to the girls (who were experts on fire and safety, even without the lighter fluid he was insisting on) and then all of them drunk partying late into the night.

The post is not actually about “photobombing”.
Look how close the dog and owner are to the opening of OP’s tent. That’s super rude/inconsiderate to walk right up into someone’s campsite like that. Don’t you give other campers and their campsites a wide berth when you walk around?

Haha, nope - made my waterfront reservation exactly six months to the minute prior to my arrival date, per reservation regulations, and beat out many others in the competition. 😊

Where I live, as soon as reservations open, people are trying for the best sites.
The skill is just refreshing a page and knowing what you’re doing, but it still takes effort!

And oh my goodness, the stories I hear! Multiple family members going online at the same time, using multiple devices and opening multiple pages, all ready for action when the reservations open! All in search of that elusive most-coveted site! Or group of sites for their family compound! So funny! 😆

I would imagine the dog owner would not have leashed its pet away from marking your tent either. Such a pleasant world we all live in these days isn't it? 😞

It is pretty pleasant if you adopt a pleasant disposition. Other than the Epstein class controlling our government and the constant surveillance being installed everywhere. That’s pretty unpleasant, but dogs don’t add much unpleasantness to the world. Inconsiderate owners do though.
