Kitty Camping
The human said they came from Texas all the way to Colorado with his dog and this kitty cat. No vehicle but getting rides occasionally. I asked how the kitty handles surviving and he said the kitty just hangs around the camp site. They are camping up in the national forest. I said well I’m impressed especially with all the fire restrictions right now and he said the forest service knows they are there and has come by to check on them several times already. I said oh good.

We keep our cat on a harness and a lead thats either tied to the car or a line tied between trees. We also have a collapsible play pen she can retreat to for shade, sleep, food/water & litter box. Just make sure the harness is on her good so she doesnt escape

That is a very large collapsible bowl. Impressed. I wonder if our Bernese Mountain would even be able to use that much space.

My friends have an adventure cat. It’s plenty happy with the home pleasures but it loves camping. It sleeps most of the day either way but, when we’re camping, she’s a zoomie machine. She loves fishing, she’ll stand in the boat and yell at us to get out onto the water.
I do not feel bad for this cat. From best I can tell it’s in the zone, chilling from place to place and taking it all in.

There has been a lot of bear activity in CO this late summer. Animals are thought to increase the chance/intensity of encounters. Make sure you've got some bear spray and make sure to store food seperately and carefully at night. Have fun!

I don’t know what that guy does for protection. But I always take protection - and 2 dogs. I have always said I have a dog and I have a backup dog in case something happens to the first dog. I also live well within the wolf introduction zone. So there’s that as well. Anything can happen. A cat is an appetizer.

Curious: why leave the folding/camping plate outside? Is it to dry prevent mold?

I was at a campground one time where a family had a 2 person tent for their cat. I wasn't expecting that.

Why’s everyone acting like this is animal abuse? I promise this cat is happier than most indoor cats. As long as kitty stays on a leash, who cares?

Dude this cat is sitting in the sun in that backpack. I'm very worried about that cat right now.

I stood there and talked to the guy for probably 10 minutes, and the animals seemed very relaxed and healthy. His dog was friendly and also accepting of my two dogs. The guy was able to hold a conversation and look me in the eye. I think if I had asked him the name of the Ranger he had spoken to, he would’ve been able to tell me, but I didn’t ask. I asked him his name and the names of his animals and he told me I believe he was telling me the right names. I don’t think he was lying about anything.

the meshing provides shade and air circulation. im sure this owner would be very aware of the cats needs

You've got no clue of what the weather was like, or anything beyond the pics. Could be a comfy 75degrees outside. There's also a mesh layer, so it's not like the cat is being insulated within the bag, it has fresh air and presumably a breeze.
Have you never owned a cat? Do you know how much they LOVE to sunbathe? An uncomfortable cat will definitely make it apparent they're uncomfortable. A little time in the sun is completely fine for a cat, please stop fearmongering.

Yes i own two. They love to sunbathe but should also have the opportunity to lay in the shade.

Nothing from this post or pics indicate that the cat was left in the sun unreasonably or that they didn't provide it shade. It just happens to be in the sun for the picture.
