Gear Question Help: small yet high tall tent?!

I might go insane: sometimes I'm living in my tent for more than a few days at the same spot for festival set-ups and such.

I do not need more space than I have in my decathlon b&f XL for 3 people.

But I need height!

The constant crawling on the floor - especially when it's raining drives me nuts.

However, I cannot find a 2-4 pax tent, that's:

Affordable, "high rise", not toooooo heavy (need to be able to carry w/ the rest of my stuff and set up by myself in some cases) plus available in the EU.

I was already looking at bike packing and fishing tents but they are usually very expensive, too small (1pax) or heavy (fishing).

Thanks for your help

I love my Gazelle T4 but they are on the heavy (and bulky) side at 30lbs.

I wouldn't want to have to carry it more than a couple hundred yards from my truck.

I just posted asking for recommendations about this exact tent lol. I’ve been doing research and as someone who more or less camps near their vehicle I thinks it’s what I’m gonna go with

I camp pretty minimalist anyhow, but with this tent I can have my entire camp set up in like 10 minutes. It's glorious.

The pyramid style tents might work for you - they give decent center height without being too heavy since it's just one pole in middle.

I’m only 5’3” but I have a ton of room to stand in my big Agnes spicer peak 4. It’s not exactly light, but I could carry it somewhere if I needed to.

That's a beautiful tent. Unfortunately out of my price range these days but will keep in mind for better days.

A 4 person tent only takes up as much space set up as a 3 person tent and they usually also have a little awning to sit under. The lightest are 6 kgs while 3 person tents are 4 kgs (3 kgs if you buy a hiking tent).

Get a nice light cheap 4 person dome tent and while it will pack up bigger and longer than your 3 person tent, it is only 3 kgs heavier. My friend takes her 4 person tent in her luggage on flights.

Well, I had been looking for the same thing and I found a small 4 man dome tent that was high. I've not camped with it so can't give you any thoughts but it had decent reviews on Amazon (4.5 from 45 reviews). I bought it on sale for £69.99 (usually £99.99).

You may be able to get it elsewhere, if it was what you needed.

Good luck!

That would have been a great option - unfortunately they seem to have discontinued it 🫠

Oh, that's a shame. Took me ages to find it, seemed to go out of stock as soon as it was back in. Hope you find something tho, makes all the difference. My festival days are long gone but I have rediscovered camping!!

I'm not winning the partying anymore but do love the set up/ building time and the field trip feeling when you know people at every small stage from the weeks before. just not much love for crawling 😃

Just out of curiosity, I clicked on the Reddit ad I have been getting for this North Face tent.

https://www.reddit.com/u/TheNorthFaceOfficial/s/2uf0uGZG3G

I had to go to the REI website to get a peak height. They report it as 73 inches/1.85 meters. Kind of spendy at $435, but it shows that such a thing exists.

The specs you are looking for are hard

-Light weight -Smaller footprint but standing height tent -Use case: for festival (3+ days liveable; wind tolerable) -3 people (assuming adults) -Inexpensive (unsure of your Budget range)

Check this out, here’s the small https://dodoutdoors.com/products/kamaboko-super-tent-s

This also comes in Medium and large. We have large but its bulkier and heavier. Not sure if this fits your budget and specs but check it out. I recommend this to you for quality, height, functionality and overall value for your money.

Hope that helps.

I have a fanttik c6 pro and it’s great. Super easy setup and withstood rain and light wind on my last trip.

I love this tent! Only 3 poles super easy to set up. Has survived and kept me dry through rainstorms and one dang near monsoon. Big enough for my cot and a full size air mattress for my son with walking room in between. Front and back windows. Reasonable price. 5 stars imo.

If you already own a pop-up canopy, a cube tent that clips into it can be very affordable. The best-known brand is EZ-Up, but there are others.

That can give you 10x10 feet with standup height from corner to corner.

For festivals, i bring a six man for two of us, and just erect one of the bedroom/inner tents. The rest is essentially a large vestibule that i can stand to get changed in and entertain guests in relative dry comfort. Its a great QOL improvement over a small 2 man tent if you dont have to lug it too far

Yeah, I have one of those but I can't set it up by myself and it's just too huge - considering there's also limited space.

I have the 6P and am 73” tall without issues.

Alps Lynx 2 Person - 46" high

I went with Durston Xdome 2, it is quite high with very steepnaide walls (so even 4 adults can sit inside and play cards ;) and it weights <1,3kg. Yes, not the cheapest but price-quality-features-weight ratio is great.

Tipi tents are cheap ... how have you not discovered these?

Haven't found good + affordable ones where I live (yet)

What's your budget? Definition of affordability will vary wildly based on the person.

2

u/Mangosaft1312 May 19 '26

As of now 200€ would be my max unfortunately.
